Run checkin!! I just got final.

Sweet, I got the notification too! But since I've got a custom recovery and unlocked bootloader, it's Modaco time for me :D

To those who haven't gotten the OTA notification yet, just go ahead and do the manual update. It is literally the exact same process that the phone does when it gets the OTA (except that you are manually loading the file onto your SD card first.

You know you wanna... :)

Updated mine. Have a custom rom so I had to go the custom zip that bypasses the Restore from Google, but so far so good, I can definitely tell an improvement from FRF50.

So I did the manual update, which seems to have installed OK. The problem is that I was running Helix Launcher 2 as the default, and it "force closes" (obviously it hasn't been tested on 2.2). Fortunately, I have "Task Manager" running, but Helix doesn't show up as a task. How can I uninstall Helix Launcher and get my phone unbricked?

Have you tried pulling up the page for it in the market and uninstalling from there? Or using the built-in application manager?

Unfortunately, I can't find a page for the app in the Android Market (from the web), but I'll fully admit it is quite possible that I'm just being stupid. The "force close" message occurs as soon as I attempt to "open" the phone. I can't get anywhere ...

If you have the Android SDK, you can try uninstalling it via command line if your device is recognized while powered on.

EDIT: My mistake. The URL I posted was for uninstalling via command line for apps on the emulator. I'll try and find something else.

I did the manual load since I haven't received the OTA notice.

The upgrade on my "STD" N1 happend without a problem and now I'm checking out 2.2. :)

Thanks all for the info on where to find the file for the manual method.

Rick

Now that I have my environment reset, I'm really liking 2.2 ... it is definitely faster and the user experience is smoother.

this might be the wrong place to ask, but does anyone see the option for color trackball notifications? I updated to 2.2 manually on my AT&T compatible N1 (never rooted - just stock) and I don't see the same options that Phil did in his post about it here:

[can't link yet].androidcentral.com/froyo-feature-color-trackball-notifications

In his video it shows in his Settings a Sound & Display option where as I have two separate options: one for Sound, one for Display and the only options I have in Display are Brightness, Auto-rotate, Animation, and Screen timeout.

I looked at some default apps (gmail, messages) and don't see anything their either. I was kinda looking forward to that...

Another thing is the ability to clear each notification item instead of them all at once. It's all or nothing for my N1.

As noted in the post, he is using CyanogenMod just as an easier way to demo the different trackball notification colors. That is why you see the option in the phone settings. The standard OS does not have customizable options for the trackball color. What HAS been given in Froyo though is the ability for developers to customize the trackball notification color for their apps. So you will notice plenty of apps that now have different colors. For example, Twidroid now notifies me in blue.

hey Ock,

Love your posts. On the trackball, is Twidroid on the Market. And does it kight blue whilw phone is on? the ones I have tried only light when waking up. Led Tester, Led Disco, Blink etc. Unless I missed something. Rooted FRF83 with Modac's r19 custom ROM. Only thing I saw on it was tied to Twitter.

Yep, Twidroid is on the market. Both free and paid (Pro) versions are available. It's a Twitter app.

In terms of the trackball light, I think the varying colors only work when the phone is in idle mode (screen off). I think I remember reading that that is why you can't customize the trackball color for incoming calls since it wakes the screen. I could be wrong though.

And thank you for the compliment. :)

Hi guys, I have the ERE27 build on my phone is there a way for me to update manually?

That has already been covered in this thread. Please go back and read previous posts.

Whoops. Posted that prematurely. You will just need to use the http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-ota-42745.dc39ca1f.zip file which I believe is the universal package that works with most current builds. I had used the one specifically for EPE54B users though.

I don't have to reset my phone or lose any info on it if I do the update manually? I have a stock 2.1 AT&T N1 and am dying to use 2.2.

Nope. Doing the official update manually is the same as OTA (except, well, manually) and does not wipe your data or apps.
