S III Battery life...

Only one hour 39 minutes screen time. I've not been on social media in the past 24 hours...

question

Why get a smartphone that is capable of so much to essentially sit there and do nothing?

That's like buying a Lamborghini, but only using it in the school zone!

Not everyone has a typical workday that allows them to consistently be on their phone the majority of the day.

My typical workday will allow me to get around 20 hours of use on average it is looking like. But I am in a busy period at work so that may go down some.

Then again, I am one of those rare people that while I am at work, I focus on work. Personal calls and texts are only answered when time allows or are very important.

Actually the 4 hours that the phone was actually used came from my commute time, the hour before i left for work, and the last 20 minutes of my lunch.

No phones allowed on the clock

Can you buy a bigger capacity battery for the GS3 that doesn't make the phone bigger and fits in the existing battery bay?

I saw very noticeable improvements when I changed sync settings for my gmail & yahoo accounts to "Never."

Does that affect receipt of mail? I really don't use the gmail for anything other than mail. Contacts, calendar etc go thru exchange.

Well, thats just it, i dont believe any carriers coverage maps. Big Canoe is roughly half way between Jasper and Dawsonville, North of GA Hwy53. There has never been any coverage here besides EDGE and when I first bought my house here in 04 there was NO cell coverage from any carrier. I have wifi at my house, so its fine.

As for the marietta coverage, I hope that map is correct. I have brought it up many times. If you filter it by 3G data and zoom in just the south of Kennesaw Mtn, there is a donut hole in coverage and that is exactly where I live, in the hole. Only a microcell provides consistant, usable service.

Coverage Maps | Sensorly has user-contributed data coverage maps that might give you more accurate data. If data coverage is sparse in your area, run the app for a while and help expand it. :D

You're right, what on earth was I thinking...

That's like, unplugging yourself from the internet!

Haha.. c'mon guys. Not everyone uses their phone the same way. Some folks think being 'unplugged' from social networking is being plugged into life... a positive thing.

Just different priorities and preferences. That's the beauty of Android.. it works for all of us. : )

which one did you order?
How much?
Where?
And most importantly, does it fit without an extended back?

Please post a review in about two weeks once you've had a chance to assess the differences in battery life. I haven't had terribly good luck with the really inexpensive replacement batteries, but I'm always on the lookout for one that actually performs as promised, or at least performs adequately enough to make the size and weight (and limitation on available cases) worth it.

I am very pleased with my battery life 9 hrs. 57% remaining. Numerous calls, emails, texts. I found a huge difference when I disabled gps except when needed.
