S III Battery life...

does any one know why the cell stand by usage is so high? That seems to be my problem. I am not in a low coverage area, so i don't think it is coming fro searching for a signal

No idea. What's the average amount for cell standby?

It's "supposed" to be an error in calculation in the code but I really don't see it being an error as so many people get their battery life eaten up by it. I recently returned my first GS3 with wifi issues and got great battery life out of it, light use almost 2 days before charging. The new one hasn't had many charge cycles (2) but I got it fully charged last night, slept 10 hours since I was off today, tried to power it on and it was stone dead. 1% and powered off on it's own. Maybe if you have good wifi you get bad battery life, bad wifi you get great battery life? It's been my experience so far in two phones. Maybe the GS3 is more problematic and has more QC issues than we thought?

See, if I barely touch the phone I too can get those amazing battery lives so many post about! I only had an hour and a half of screen time on this.

I am seriously considering getting this phone but these posts about battery life concern me. In an area with LTE (I'm in Dallas which has strong LTE), how long will the battery life really go? I'm happy if it will last the whole day on 3 to 4 hours use. Is that realistic?

Wow! some of you must be some really heavy users....

I left the house at 8am with a full charge and am at 90% at 12pm. I do text throughout the day and occasionally surf the web and can usually go 2 days on a charge.

I don't leave it on at night nor do I have any of the cool weather widgets or any of the other power draining stuff installed. I only use my GPS when needed mainly for my Endomondo app in the am.. I switched to Nova Launcher and removed all of the widgets off of my Touch Wiz pages.

My email is set to refresh when I tell it to.

if ur android system/server/os is over 10% just restart ur phone it will fix it for a few days then it comes back just repeat lol and if any apps are over 5% use task manager and end all/ram clear memory :) only internet/screen/cell standby should be over 15&

You can get through a day with 4 hours use.

The people that show the 24-48 hour run Times are the people that barely ever use their phone.

It's impossible to get more than 12 hours if you are a heavy user.

Big differentiator in battery life, I charged my battery with an external charger and I'm running almost 40 minutes and still at 100%! This may be what I was looking for

external charger? the plug and cord it came with?

I have also noticed my battery life being bad the last couple weeks. When I check the cell stand by is what's consuming most of my battery.

After a somewhat heavy usage day today I got over 14 hours with the above mentioned method!

Can't beat that at all!

I'm happy I ended up waiting for the s4. I'm sure the s3 is a good phone when its working but I've been seeing so many issues. If you have a s2, stick with it. That's what I'm getting out of the thread.

It's not a bad phone at all.

The battery life is good keep in mind you won't find a smartphone with the battery life of a an old flip phone

How many tabs do you have open Chrome? Perhaps you have some runaway processes running in the background.

That's terrible!

Chrome is really killing your battery!

Try dolphin browser.

Try turning your brightness down and I think you're in a bad signal area

Last night I was using Chrome. I usually don't use it that much. I can do another screen shot when I get back down to about 5%.

I had a few running in chrome then went to one. I go between 2 to 4 bars of service and that's with the symbol saying 4G instead of 4G lte.
