I have now had my sIII for about four weeks. I got rid of my SII after the abysmal ICS "downgrade" thinking I would have a great time with the new phone. I did initially love the SIII with ICS because it reminded me how much I adored my SII while it still had gingerbread on it. For about 2 to 2.5 weeks, the battery was awesome. It lasted well over 24 hours like my old phone used to last with me doing alot of stuff on it like surf, text, read and play games. However, this past 10 days or so, I have noticed the battery power dropping precipitously. For example, It was fully charged at 4:00PM today. It is now 7:50, and I am down a whopping 37%. In less than 4 hours! And, I have done virtually nothing on the phone.
I have done a few things to help alleviate the drain issue, like going into settings, data usage, restrict background usage on almost all of the apps. Still the battery disappears at an alarming rate.
As an example, when I leave my car at 7:00 am, I could go all day, with WIFI on, receiving texts, emails, updates, you name it, and by 6PM, I would leave with between 82 and 75% of battery life, often being able to make a call or two, play lots of games and read Kindle books until I fell asleep. Then, leave the phone unplugged all night and be awoke with the alarm and still have 50-60%. What has happened?
Why did it work perfect for 3 weeks, then go south? I'm mystified and upset because I feel like I'm having to babysit this phone's charge like I did my SII after the ICS downgrade. I don't know what to say except Samsung needs to get on the stick and figure out what is going on with the battery life in these units. The consumption is overkill and I know it has to be a setting or something because my phone held a charge great until a week or so ago. Same goes for the SII. How can you have a gingerbread OS that ran so beautifully and then install ICS and basically have a phone can't even be considered mobile anymore.
Also, when I am away from home and at work (Lansing, Michigan) approx 30 miles from my house, I use wifi at work. But the data roaming warning pops up constantly, even when I try to turn it off. My SII NEVER did this. And Lansing is a large city with lots of Sprint towers nearby. I'm totally puzzled.
