S III Battery life...

This is the type of battery life you can realistically expect when you barely use your phone.

About 8 hours of that time i was sleep

LTE Killing My Battery

So at home I have no LTE coverage, but at work I do. At home my phone discharges at about 3%/hour. At work that jumps up to 10%/hour, sometimes more! I can live without LTE, but it is my understanding that I can only turn it off if I am rooted. Guess I'll have to take the plunge.

Wow some of you are getting really awesome results... I'd say my battery is about the same as I used to have on the skyrocket. Like yesterday I managed to squeeze 2 hrs 40 mins. of screen time with a little less than 12 hours of total time off charger. It isn't bad but its not great either. I bought a spare battery to always carry with me as I did with all my previous phones.

My battery is GREAT!!! The only reason it started going down at the end was because I was using my GPS with LTE

My battery life was atrocious when I first bought it last week. I tied the Wifi of when asleep thing along with monitoring which apps stayed running and killing them but if was 10-15% an hour all the time. I then went and bought Juice Defender Ultimate and just using the balanced settings I have dropped down to 3-5% an hour. I was ready to throw in the towel on the phone but this app actually works as advertised, for me anyway. YMMV.

I'm guessing that this is pretty good batt life

I'd say so. Its probably about average. I can go a whole day without charging. From 7am off charge to midnight charge again. And that's with a little left. :D

I see half of the people here complaining about battery issues. I personally took the OEM Galaxy battery which was a 2100mAh and upgarded the battery to a 2900mAh and saw an significant battery increase and less charging of the phone. Just a suggestion...

Not sure if this is near a record time or not, but I was shocked.

Let me preface by saying since I got my phone a couple weeks ago, I usually had to charge the phone by bed time..usually made it to about 16 or so hours.

Yesterday I notice the phone was holding a charge a LOT longer . So here I am now at 1 day, 41 minutes and I'm right at 50% as of this message.

Does it fit under the stock cover? Curious since I have an Otterbox Commuter case on mine.

Assuming the 2900 is non OEM (samsung) battery? Any issues?

Happy to see all of the pics of the great battery life people are getting, gives me hope...

I switched to the S3 a week ago after being a long time iphone user. The new iphone 5 just didn't work in my house, we are sort of in a borderline area and it kept dropping calls or even refusing to make calls. I tried the S3, have had some issues with this but overall love the phone and all of the new things I'm going to be able to do. Also upgraded my wife a week later from her iphone, she's even liking it.

Two major gripes at this point - battery life (on both phones) and visual voicemail. I'm sure I can get the voicemail to work using some 3rd party app, but battery life is horrible. I typically unplug around 9am and I won't make it through the work day without charging. Granted I'm on the phone a little more than usual right now, but nothing crazy. If I play Temple Run for 15 minutes, my battery drops about 10% - 15%. Oddly it seems a little better today, I'm at 83% showing 2h 53m on battery, 39% cell standby and 17% screen. 10% maps which is weird haven't even used it today... For the screen, showing 12m 47s usage. Imagine if I'm watching a video, playing games, downloading new apps, etc., it goes quick at that pace, an hour of usage brings me down to 40% or so.

I enabled Juice Defender Ultimate yesterday, didn't see a huge difference throughout the day, only that I had to turn it off to run Pandora at work. I have my auto brightness turned off, screen around 30% brightness. There is no way I could do the things people have mentioned in reviews (watch movie, transfer files, an hour of this, hour of that) and get away with it.

Any ideas? Possible bad batteries (on my phone and my wife's seems unlikely)? I didn't think these types of batteries had to be conditioned, or were plagued my memory issues, and certainly nothing came with the phone to recommend any sort of initial charging etc.

Any help is appreciated.
Scott

Try GSam and see what is sucking the juice up. Me personally I have got rid of my battery widgets etc because I was becoming obsessed with checking my battery status all the time.
I just charge it every night when I go to bed and just be happy about it. I average 12 to 15 hours before my phone dies completely. Also I have the brightness at 100% as well. Just makes the phone look a lot better

Battery life has been fantastic for me ever since I got my S3. Today, for example, I spent nearly all the time at work listening to my music via Google Play (wifi on and streaming all the time), did several calls, at lunch break read through my RSS feeds, Twitter, Google+, etc, chatted a bit via WhatsApp and Google Talk and 11 hours after taking the phone off it's charger this morning, my battery is at 50%. I can continue using it for the rest of the day and before going to bed it ends up being at around 30 or so % (sometimes less if I end up using it more throughout the day).

Very nice, my S3 is not rooted nor do I use battery related apps and just like I did with the iPhone before it, I get a full day of use in a single charge.
