S III Battery life...

Ok guys there are bad phones out there like I said my phone dropped 68 % in 5 hours on stand by mode tried it again closed everything possible still went from 99%to 0 over might while sleeping took it back yesterday and got a new one went to bed with 58% and woke up with 55% only dropped 3 overnight in stand by mode so take your phones back if u have this prob they said that some phones are using 34ma instead of 3.4ma it's a software issue in standby mode some got screwed up so it's using 10x the amount of power
You need to read the software issue post again.......

for most apps yea, thats how android is designed to work.. you should use the back button to back out of pretty much everything... i think with so many new android users alot of people havent learned the basics of android design

I've been trying to use the back button to close out of apps, but it never seems to actually close them. If I long press menu button, it still will show all of those apps in multitasking even if I used back button to close out. Am I just doing it wrong, or what's going on here? Like another user commented above, I've gotten into the habit of using task manager to close everything pretty often. I'd rather just close them with the back button if possible though. :)

You guys that are getting lousy battery life, are you running facebook or other social media client that is constantly churning data? Im not a FB user, so I cant gauge, but have long suspected that apps like that have to drain the heck out of your battery.

...why exactly were you switching the mobile data on and off?

Sorry, delayed answer.... I had my data off most of the day simply to conserve battery. I then saw one of your posts about having social media sync turned off, so I will give that a try for a few days and see how it works.

1st day: Used it ALOT! Battery died in about 5-6 hours with HEAVY USE.
2nd day: Moderately used. Unplugged at 9:30AM. Was at 15% by 11:30pm

both days power saving option was turned off.

Now that is a realistic, believable battery life.

*swyped from the evo so excuse any typos*

I got the phone the other day, and it just died today. Was watching EVO stream all afternoon, numerous facebook checks/twitter updates. This thing makes my GS2's battery look like nothing. I am in love.

I do the same thing. Before I hit the lockscreen, I long-press the home key and close all open apps in the Task Manager.

...yesterday and this morning looks like this. But, only with 1:29:27 of screen time. Some of us have to work ;)

With normal usage my battery lasted one full day... I have wi-fi on all the time, emails are on push and sync turned on. Brightness is set to 20% :)

daschermann, that is pretty good. I guess you don't recall the screen time use, do you?

You should post the screen time use, too :)

I get through the work day now. First day or two were bad but I changed some sync settings and I guess the battery came into its own. Now I can be on the BT headset all day and still make it through. I only message on the phone and use a bit of app, sometimes google something. No social media (Never had enough of an ego to presume anyone cares I'm having a taco.)

I just tried the "home" button and then the "back" button using the same apps (Go sms, Stock email, chrome browser, google search). All showed as "active" regardless of method.

If there is a way to make the black button "close" apps - please share. Thanks in Advance!

Here's my battery life. I will definitely have a spare battery, but it's much better than my EVO.

This is how you can expect the galaxy s 3 to last with heavy usage.
