S Notes

Hey all.. i think this is a basic question.. I use my S Pen alot to jot down notes, etc... So, of course, i pull out my pen to create or edit a note. However, when I tap the S Note icon to edit a note, I do not see any of my notes that I created. It only allows me to create a new note, but I cannot locate or see any of my existing notes to edit. Does anyone know a fix for this? Do I need to do a sync or something? Please help. Thanks in advance...

If you go to your apps and open Samsung Notes (S Notes is loooong, and unfortunately, dead), you don't see any of the notes created in the past? Are you sure they were saved? From that app, what does the first screen you see look like? There should be an ALL tab and a COLLECTIONS tab with a menu button on the right.

Thanks for your response spook.... yes I do see my notes when opening "samsung notes"... i thought "s notes" and "samsung notes" were linked and was able to view my notes when clicking or opening the "s notes" app... however, not the case... so i just removed the "s notes" shortcut and replaced it with the "samsung notes" shortcut to the home screen. thanks so much for your help...

Yeah, S-Notes is the old version and that was killed off on the Note 5 I believe. Pretty sad since the new version is grossly under-featured in comparison (a bunch of stuff you had in S-Notes is no longer available in Samsung Notes). You can still import your old notes into Samsung Notes but you won't be able to edit them.

pretty sad indeed.. thanks for your responses.. helped tremendously... i currently have an issue with getting yahoo mail notification icon to show up in my notification bar and panel... i searched the forums and people have had success force stopping the app, clearing data and cache, and then re-installing, but i've tried that and still cant get them to show... you have any guesses on i could be doing wrong or not doing? i have notification enabled in the yahoo app settings for "all mail" and on my note 8... this has me stumped.

In the Notifications section of your phone's settings, on the Yahoo! Mail app, is the switch ON? If you tap on it, are the options there turn on/off appropriately to what you want them to show? You can always try switching the notifications on/off there and see if that resets it.

yeah, its on... idk what is going on... i guess ill just have to live with this... and just manually go into yahoo email and refresh... thanks for your help with everything...

Is the Yahoo Account showing up in your Accounts section (in your phone's settings, not the app)? If so, try removing it from there and adding it back.

Also, do you get any notification at all from the Yahoo App? Or just not the icon on the bar? You might not have the e-mail to be retrieved in Push(if supported) or certain time intervals, and only fetches it when you open the app.

Yes & no. Samsung is still supporting a truly crappy version of S Note (available in the Google Play store & Samsung Galaxy apps). BUT back when the Note 7 came out, someone at XDA found a way to install the (better) previous version. We have it mostly working now for the Note 8.

See this topic (and several others linked from it):
https://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=832982

And an XDA member recently got the last 2 add-ons, Photo Note and Easy Chart, working. I haven't had a chance to try that yet, but everything else, including Action Memo is working as it had on previous Notes.

*** IMPORTANT note - if you do install S Note from the AC & XDA instructions, be sure to turn Auto Updates OFF in the Google Play store AND Samsung Galaxy apps.

To the best of my knowledge, although that version of S-Notes is still available, is no longer updated or supported by Samsung and doesn't show for newer devices. And while yes, the XDA modified version is an alternative, do you really want to go through this every new phone? Or just switch to an alternative service that is consistent like Evernote (yuck) or OneNote (still yuckish, but much better and almost closer to the S-Notes).

I got it to work spook...I turned it off then turned it back on and long behold....a notification popped up...lol... thanks so much bro!

It technically IS still supported, tho very dumbed down. It's not installed on the N8 and wasn't on the N7, but is available in the Google Play store (last updated Sep '17) and in the Galaxy Apps store (last updated Dec '17) and shows for the N7 & N8. Neither has Action Memo available. But the versions here and in XDA do.

Evernote and OneNote have nowhere near the capabilities of S Note and Action Memo.

One you've done it a few times, it's really no different then installing your apps, and customizing any new phone.

I didn't realize how much I miss action memo until I got this Note a few weeks ago, and seeing it being talked about in this forum . I DL the S Notes app but yeah it's basic
