out of curiosity, does anyone's battery smell like this while it's on? the reason i ask is yesterday i woke up to my phone being stuck on the ultra-high auto brightness with the boost for some reason, and when i went to bed it was less than an hour of screen on time, when i woke up it was more than 4 hours. i'm assuming it was like that the entire time, and the phone was scorching hot. i shut it off as quickly as i could and pulled the battery out to let it cool off. i'm not sure what happened, but when it was hot, the battery had a very strong smell that seems to be what you're all smelling on the s pen, and i've now noticed that my s pen has that smell. i never smelled it before, so i don't know if it did it before, but my battery (or at least the battery compartment) does have this smell any time it's on. i took it apart again last night for a few hours to let it sit and air out with the pen and battery out, and upon turning it on, it smells again.
i'm just trying to decide if i should bother doing a replacement on the phone, as i'll have to ship it in to AT&T if so because it's past 14 days and the repair center near me doesn't work with the note 4 yet. the phone otherwise seems to be okay and i feel that this was probably a one-off fluke so i'm not horribly worried about it, i just want to make sure there's not some melted plastic inside that's now touching the SoC or something now and causing a stink.
