Damn it...found the reason....I had a leather cover which has a magnet near that area.....took the cover off and lo behold all ok....I loved that cover....what a shame!!!!

It's actually a case that I bought from Wish.... From China... Lovely leather great finish.... Unfortunate.... Will be trying for a refund. Fingers crossed. Basically avoid a case with a magnet.... Lesson learnt
