s10 random 3 note chime couple times a day, no notifications showing, nfc off

What is that 3 chime notification that sounds like the old NBC trademark?s

That 3-chime guy isn't making this up. I get it, too. Not every day, but sometimes more than once a day. It's got to be some advertiser.

This happens on my wife's phone. We'll try taking out the weather app. We're also in Austin and like KXAN.

It'd be interesting to see if many (or all) of the various NBC affiliate apps have this kind of notification tone.

I have a local NBC news app, but I have notifications for it and all local news apps disabled.

Try in safe mode see if it is a app causing this .

My Samsung ultra 22 has been doing the same thing randomly. I actually found that when I went to my settings I searched for android System power key and it came up with the option of android system intelligence. In that area I turned off the send diagnostic data and the chime immediately stopped. I'll keep you posted as to whether it stops... since it happens at least 3 X a day!! Annoying!!

Within the KXAN app (as of version 5.7.2018.202301312200), go to hamburger menu > Settings > Notification Settings > Station Sounds
Set to "No sound" to prevent random headline-related non-notification-notifications.
