S20+ 5g timer no alert when in background

Hi there,

I use my timer a lot for different things. I could set one or more timers and then do other stuff with confidence that the timer would alert me when finished no matter what the state of the phone was.

Lately (since Android 11 upgrade?) The timer doesn't alert me when in the background. It is working in the background when I check it. If I have gone past the alert time and it hasn't alerted me it will beep when I look at it and show +3 or however much time has elapsed since the timer finished.

I am sure there is a simple background setting but don't know where to look.

Any thoughts?

Is the timer app optimized? If it is, it won't actually run when it's in the background, it just sits in RAM so that bringing it to the foreground is faster.

Found the following on Reddit. Just tried it myself and seems to have fixed the problem.

Solved: Got the following email reply via Google issue feedback which fixed my issue.

"The issue was fixed for me once I disabled/enabled the app and cleared app storage. Hope that helps."
