S20 doesn't cut it

Yeah, I completely ignore display sizes. They mean nothing when considering a phone's actual size. You just look up the dimensions, multiply width x length x thickness and you've got the in-hand feel (cubic volume). At 6.2", the S20 has a large enough display, yet is about as small as the S10 (even marginally smaller). Best of both worlds! I love it.

I do understand why people would want giant phones if they do not own a PC for example. A lot of people do their full-time computing from a phone.

You are right. Lots of people use their smartphones as a laptop/computer so they may need that type of display size. The S10 is my first "phablet" phone so I'm still getting used to wrapping my mind around what "big phones" truly are and how they can or cannot fit into my lifestyle.

I guess I dont fit the mold since I have several laptops and 2 tablets and still like the biggest phone possible. I think it's great that we have choices because there are great smaller devices out there.

I agree! I love having many options, especially between small - medium - big - phablet. LOOL.

I'm waiting for LOOL size

I think we hit that territory with the Note9 and OnePlus 7 Pro lol. And I owned both devices. Took a step back into the somewhat reasonable with the Note10+. With the Ultra, we're right back into LOOL space. But that's just one man's opinion.

Cubic volume means nothing to my brain. LOL I just look at the overall dimensions to determine size.

Maybe, but there are smaller options. I'm looking at the cases that came in for the Ultra and comparing an identical one for my Note 10+ and it isn't all that different in width. Height is a bit taller but that doesn't bother me. The depth might be what I notice and possibly the weight but I'm used big phones. I used to carry a V20 which is similar to the Note 10+ and often switched the stock battery for a 6300 or 10000 mAh. Yeah it was big, but I didn't mind it for those days where I couldn't get to a power source.

Lol on it's own, it means nothing to me too. It means something in comparison to other phones though, including those I've held. I've posted this several times already but just as an example, this is the overall size of some familiar flagships (cubic volume in mm):

S20 Ultra: 111,689.6
Note9: 108,848.608
OnePlus 7 Pro: 108,603.792
Note8: 104,533.0
iPhone 11 Pro Max: 99,568.44
S10 5G: 99,539.4924
S9+: 99,176.13
Note10+: 98,983.524
Pixel 4 XL: 98,777.528
OnePlus 7T: 97,400.437
OnePlus 6T: 96,604.2
S8+: 94,829.13
XS Max: 93,866.85
S20+: 93,506.4
S10+: 91,089.648
S9: 86,249.415
Note10: 85,650.22
Pixel 4: 82,987.936
S10: 82,313.088
S20: 81,654.4
S8: 81,120.72
S10e: 78,524.262
iPhone X: 78,395.548

To me anyway, it can be surprising how some of these sizes stack up. But then you get the phones in hand, and they make sense.

The difference will never be that huge from one big phone to the next generation of big phone. It's the incremental pushing of the size envelope that adds up. People once thought the Note5 and Note7 were huge, for example. Both pale in comparison to how huge phones have gotten now.

The V10 and V20 were already huge. apx 4 to 5 years ago. Some people like big phones and as long as we are going to push camera and battery specs it is where we are. Again, there are options for those who don't want big devices.

Choice is always good, no doubt.

One nice thing is 5G has proven to be a cancer causer, and because of it's limited distance penetration they're going to need to have transmitters on every block, so we'll be completely soaked in 5G waves 24/7.

There's an upside to everything lol. And I agree 4G is fine and safer ;-)
@J Dubbs:

is that really true, the cancer part?

that would be concerning, not that there is anything one can do about it.

may i ask what reliable source you saw that on please?

if it really were to be cancer causing and proven, why are they building it out rapidly now then?

if you actually read that story, it doesn't support the concept that 5G is dangerous. It refutes it. Because some small town in the UK decided to get paranoid, with no scientific evidence, doesn't mean there's a causal link. If that is it, I'm not even a little bit concerned.

"Claims that 5G poses a health risk have been dismissed by many, including what appears to be the vast majority of experts in the field."

I didn't say I supported those claims. Just showing the article. I'm not an antivaxer either and got the flu shot this year. :)
