S20 Ultra back to not receiving instant notifications again.

I have no choice of carrier. When I lived in the city in Pennsylvania I could use whatever carrier I wanted. I moved to the Catskill mountains of NY and Verizon is the only provider around that works. Straight talk is around but most people use Verizon with that as well.

My iPhone hasn’t had an issue with notifications coming through at all.
I’ve never had an issue with my iPhones.... I guess that’s why people say “they just work”
But I do like my Samsung phones too

It is not only a Verizon problem, as I am on T-Mobile...
I have had this problem since my Samsung S10+, and it continued on my S20 Ultra. I do eventually get all of my notifications, and most of them are in a timely manor, but almost always when I unlock the phone I will get a straggler. I also have a wifi controlled garage door opener (Meross) that notifies me of the door open/close that is ALWAYS delayed, anywhere from 10 - 20 minutes (not very helpful). I have gone through every setting numerous times, I have played with sleeping/ not sleeping apps, battery optimization...everything, and nothing changes----until, I read about a command to disable Doze, it's an ADB command "adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable" and it will respond with "Deep idle mode disabled" and "Light idle mode disabled". The next time I left the house I got an immediate notification from the opener that the door was opened...and when I returned an hour later it again notified me immediately when the door was opened and then closed. This command is not persistent, so it will be disabled on a re-boot, so you will have to re-enter it on each boot (unless someone can figure out how to have it run automatically with tasker or such). I only did this yesterday afternoon, so I don't know how much battery will be lost, but based on yesterday I should still make it through a day with no problem. I'll keep an eye on it and see.
I think that this might prove that it is a phone (Samsung or Android) problem rather than a settings problem (I'm thinking Sammy).

ADB command? How’s it work? An app?

I simply was pointing out that it happened on Verizon with a different model phone but thanks for the tip.

Question guys is there a point where Twitter notifications stop coming through? Last time I had the s10 plus I stopped getting twitter notifications after 50 tweets

I remember they had a issue at one point , not sure if there a limit.

UPDATE: I have had "Doze" disabled since 7/13/20, more than enough time to play with this, and since doing this my notifications have come in immediately, everytime, all of them... For me this is a success, would I have reached the same results with a factory reset and manually re-installing everything - I don't know, I really didn't want to go that route, but this works (again for me). There is a hit on the battery, but it really isn't great, and I still get a full day with plenty to spare, so no problem.

That's great

Which doze mode you referring to?

Adaptive battery in device care ?

No, through ADB:
"adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable" and it will respond with "Deep idle mode disabled" and "Light idle mode disabled"
It is not persistent, so it has to be re-applied on boot. I tried EVERYTHING else (I didn't want to factory reset, and I don't know if that would have solved my problem) and this is the only thing that worked (for me) to get EVERY notification immediately, everytime...

Ahh gotcha , did you try the adaptive battery toggle off ?

You're kidding right?
I tried EVERYTHING possible since the S20 Ultra was released.... Something was getting dozed by android that should not have, killing Doze seems to have "fixed" it.

No I'm not kidding!

You mentioned you tried everything, im not sure what everything means to you . I've seen people say that before and not actually done everything , plus they are many settings to set power saving, optimization, global and per apps .
