yet, mine still has the cancel button and does not say Backordered.

This is my 6th year in a row of ordering a new Galaxy S phone. If memory serves me correctly it is usually the norm for Samsung to show the phones "backordered" at some point between purchase and it getting shipped out on time. Wouldn't stress too much.

I have pre-ordered the S21 Ultra 5G 512GB version in phantom black, I'm upgrading from the S10+ delivery date is Friday 29th January, I ordered from the Samsung UK website.

No brainer to upgrade from the s20 to s21. $700 trade in credit on the s20 for a $799 phone, plus $25 credit for pre-registering for the pre-order: net cost before sales tax was $74. Oh yeah, plus the $160 in store credits, and sales on items in the store, also got me the buds pro for $19.99. Throw in sales tax and my total charged to my CC was $166. Even though I plan to (again) jump into the iphone ecosystem this coming Christmas, this was too good to pass up.

Based on my order history from Samsung last year, I paid $340 to do the trade-in thing to go from s10 to s20. The larger credit they are offering on phone trade-in is a clear indicator that they are losing major market share to Apple, and are willing to almost give away the new phones to keep people in the Samsung ecosystem. Someone switches to an iphone, and Samsung also for sure loses potential sales on all the ancillary items: tablet, watch, ear buds, etc. I know when I switch to apple stuff again, I will be doing the same.

Sad, because I think Samsung phones are really, really good now, but with my first kid going to college this fall, it will be much easier for me (and my not-tech-savvy wife) to communicate with him and share photos and videos. It's been a good, long run with Android for me, and this phone should be an enjoyable way to go out.

My order (S21 Ultra 256GB unlocked, black, US) just changed from Order Placed to Backordered. It still says expected delivery is Jan 29, though. I placed the order Thursday afternoon.

Ordered S21 Ultra 256 through VZ. Couldn't resist the trade-in credit they offered for my Pixel 2xl.
I'm not a big fan of Samsung mainly due to their bloatware but maybe I'll get used to it.

Schedule says delivery on Jan. 29th.

When should the Rakuten credit show up? This is my first time using it. I just ordered about an hour ago and Rakuten still says my balance is $0.00.

Edit to say after 2 hours it looks like it showed up. (About $10 less than expected, but still pretty good).

Getting rid of my 12 mini. My first iphone and it's very underwhelming. Getting the s21 with charging pad and 4 cases for 150. Not bad. Woooo!!!

on my app, my S21 Ultra 512 now says Backordered, but the cancel button is still there.

on their website, it just says Pre-Ordered and the cancel button is also still there.

for most folks here, their cancel buttons are all gone by now.

don't know what all that means.

Means they havent processed your order yet. If I recall the versions with the largest storage options had less units produced. Doesn't mean you won't get it. It should still be showing a date that you'll receive it by.

well, it's not really possible to have ordered it any sooner than i have!

i waited till i watched the whole Samsung Unpacked presentation, then read an article about it, then ordered it around 12:30pm Eastern Time Zone. that's just like an hour after their presentation.

the only way someone could have ordered it sooner than i have would be for them to order it the moment the presentation is over without reading any articles at all about it. i thought it wise to at least read an article with some details on various specifications, etc., and then place my order. in reality, there really wasn't any difference in me reading the article or not, since i knew which model i would have gotten anyway.

still, net/net, i ordered essentially at the earliest possible moment, so if they "ran out" of stock THAT early on, they must not have ANY!!! i can't imagine that an order as early as the one i placed could possibly result in "out of stock/backordered". their meaning for the term "backordered" must mean something else!

When you're setting up the phone they give you the option to install their Samsung apps. You are forced to have them on the phone by default.

After you receive the phone and typically after 14 day return period.

Wow, that is a way early shipping label for 9 days out. I wonder if shipping early due to all delays. They can always hold at local station until Wednesday I guess if gets there early.

Don't get hung up on word backordered. Just the date of delivery. If I recall they always say backordered.
