I only send a few of messages per day and usually the battery lasts 2 days max. Last year I went to Paxos (Greek island). The battery life jumped to 4 days ! On return to Uk it was back to 2 days. This year same again 2 days Uk but 4 days on Paxos. The same happened with my wife’s phone so it is not unique to my phone.
I have searched the internet but not found any clues as to why. Does anyone know what is causing this effect. Would love for 4 days in the Uk.

Welcome to Android Central! What's your cell signal like where you typically are in the UK? If your cell signal is mediocre at home, and if it was very good on Paxos, that might at least partially explain the difference.

Also, do you have any idea what your screen time was in both locations? Maybe you were using your phones less while on vacation (unless of course you were taking lots of photos or using them to navigate a lot).

Hi B Diddy, thanks for your reply.
The cell signal at home is mediocre and a little better in Paxos. However , both at home and in a Villa on Paxos Wi-Fi calling is in first choice so I would expect signal is less important. My wife’s phone also performs in almost identical way. I could understand a small difference between the two locations but a 50 % plus improvement in Greece seems odd. We both rarely use audio calls and generally just a few messages per day . For the majority of the day our phones are on standby In both locations but even on standby the overnight loss of battery capacity is significantly less in Paxos..

Poor cell signal can still impact battery life, even with wi-fi calling on, but I agree that it would still be a stretch to attribute that big a difference to the signal.

Do you do a lot of smarthome stuff while at home?
