S22 plus reactions to iPhone messages

[Android Central Question]

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this issue. I was pretty excited to finally have the ability to react to messages in the basic messaging app. I was about to react to a message received today and it seems that I can't post reactions to messages sent from an iPhone.

I've looked at all the settings that seem to be set appropriately. I can react to messages sent by people I know who are using android phones but the issue seems to happen anytime I'm looking to react to an iPhone user or in a group message.

If anyone's run into this - any of y'all know of a fix?
