S22 Ultra Battery Disappointment

Anyone else disappointed with their battery life from their S22 Ultra?

Coming from the smaller iPhone 13 Pro, I am getting about half the battery life with moderate usage.

I love Android over IOS as an operating system but it's embarrassing a device with a 3095 mah vs 5000 mah is way better.

I know there are "tweaks" I can do to extend battery life but with a brand new flagship that shouldn't be necessary..

No issues with battery here my phone goes all day easily... I usually go to sleep with 30% still left to be charged I have two email accounts and social media running through the phone.. the only thing that drains the battery a little bit extra for me is Android auto which it also does on all my other phones... I know the iPhone 13 Pro Max is a beast with battery I'm not sure about the pro smaller phone...

Even the iPhone 13 Pro is great with battery and the 13 Pro Max is another level in terms of battery over any phone. I have both the models and Apple has knocked it out in terms of battery life. I do agree I'm able to get thru the day with S22 Ultra comfortably. Is it better than the iPhone battery life? Probably not.

That's great to hear I mean at the end of the day I'd rather have the Android phone and give it a bump LOL.. my iPhone 12 Pro goes all day but I also use it less LOL

Let's get one thing out the way it's definitely not better than iPhone 13 Pro Max... but with that said the battery life has been good to me. It goes down pretty quickly to about the halfway mark then it seems to hold steady and gets me through the day with heavy use.

If you start comparing it with the iPhone you definitely going to get disappointed. Getting a iPhone to drop down from 100% and standby times are legendary. But overall the S22U is on par with pretty much every Flagship Android device. Just learn how to top up when you get a chance and you'll be alright.

IPhones are just unmatched when it comes to battery life. If that's your biggest smartphone must, buy an Apple, pure and simple.

I love my iphone, but won't take it over an Android, even with Android's poor optimization and greedy GPUs lol

Yeah, coming from a year with the iPhone 12 Pro max and knew coming back to the Galaxy would be less battery endurance but I didn't expect such a massive gulf as their is. I'll give it a few weeks to settle and optimise but even then I know I'm gonna have to keep topping up everytime I'm near a charger. Something that just wasn't an issue with the iPhone. Just need to adjust my habits again I guess

Agree the S22 Ultra battery life can't compare to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Like wit every Samsung phone I've owned since the S9+ it seems as though the software updates we get throughout the year improve battery life. Also, with us spending less time charging our phones than iPhone users I feel that is a decent trade-off.

Android simply can't compete with iOS and battery life, IMO, especially standby mode. And I also think Samsung might be one of the worst Android offenders to boot. But superior standby battery still doesn't make me want to use my (work) iPhone as my primary driver.

I knew the phone would take a while to settle in and learn my usage patterns, but I was still a bit concerned the first few days because it seemed extremely bad even for a new device. The last couple of days though it seems to be settling in; hard to tell for sure though cuz I went away this weekend and signal was absolutely terrible ... this week being back to normal should give me a better feel.

Now my watch 4 classic is a different story! Battery on it is abysmal!!! Have to try and figure out what'd up with it because my several years old Galaxy Active 2 was getting much better battery life.

Yeah I just don't understand why Android can't optimize it better after all these years with these huge batteries

Can you imagine the battery life of the iPhone 1X Pro Max if they ever go from 4352 to 5000mah??

Heavy phone though... heavier than the S22U which I'm not a fan of. But I guess a trade-off using premium materials... that stainless steel frame must add a lot.

Ugh, battery life for me has been awful from the start. I didn't do a "fresh" install - used smart switch to move everything. I know doing fresh is the best way to clear out any cobwebs. Was just being lazy so now might need to do factory reset and start fresh. I wanted to wipe system cache first to see if that helped and not sure if I missed a change somewhere but you have to connect to a computer to do it? I thought I did it with my S21+ previously. The video I saw said you have to connect to a Win or Mac computer and I have neither. I tried pressing a variety of buttons but only got into download mode.

Trade-offs... 1200 nit max on the iPhone vs 1750, Samsung's quad camera setup at with a 108mp sensor and a 40mp front camera over all of Apples cameras that are all 12mp, AOD, a more robust multitasking setup over Apples implementation, etc.... all contribute and nibble away at battery life.

Yep, this is what I think - there's so much more going on in the Android phone and I've always thought a lot of it was how multitasking was being handled.

No complaint from me; however, I am far from a power user on a phone. And I figure it will get better the longer I use it and charge it. And I NEVER pay any attention to any of the ludicrous battery tests. In one, it was only a few minutes difference between a 21U (assume been used for quite a while) and a 22U (assume it was brand new) and the guy was raving about how terrible it was.

We all keep different settings on screen brightness, some may be outside in bright sunlight so more with max brightness while some are not out in bright sunlight. And we all use it differently, so how can anyone do a battery test that matches what everyone will do with their phone?

This is the main reason I've not upgraded from my Watch 3 Classic or Watch Active 2. I've heard so many complaints about the drop in battery. Add to the fact Samsung always take months or years to add all the promised functions eg SpO2/blood pressure monitoring last time and now Google Pay and Google Assistant this time around

You want to experience a truly bad battery use my old S7 lol. I haven't had a problem with the S22U, seems about the same as the S21U and gets me through the day. My car doesn't have wireless Android Auto so it tops off on my way to and from work while being plugged in.

I turned off NFC on my watch earlier today and it seems to be helping some. Will See if it makes a difference long term.
