Sounds like hardware, however it could possibly be corrected through an update if it's video driver related incompatibility. If I were in your shoes i would be tempted to return it unless you here something positive before the return period is over.Yes, it does not appear in the screenshots.
Looks to be affecting a lot of people on the Exynos variant. https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s22-series/samsung-s22-ultra-screen-defect/td-p/4856748
Between that thread and the reddit thread there are a lot of unhappy exynos processor phone owners.
Here's an article on the problem and the fix...
Some Galaxy S22 Ultra Units Are Facing A Weird Display Issue

"The only users reporting this issue are using the Exynos 2200 model of the phone. While this issue is annoying, it seems that there’s a fix for it. According to Sam Mobile, turning the display to Vivid mode seems to fix the issue. This just points to a minor software bug that an update can iron out."
According to a poster in another thread it doesn't show up in screenshots so that implies it's hardware related.Doesn't sound good at all. Samsung need to fix this asap. It's a pretty major issue.
Samsung really doesn't need bad press on this.

"Samsung’s issues with yield are concerning. It’s said that the yield of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 manufactured by Samsung Foundry is 35%. What that simply means is that out of the 100 pieces that are manufactured, 65 are defective. The yield for Samsung’s own 4nm Exynos 2200 is shockingly said to be even lower than this."
Yikes! Hope I'm in the 35% group
Probably download Samsung info app or CPUz app in play store I believe one of them will sayHow exactly would we know if we have one of these substandard chips in our phones? Since we don't hear that 65% of the phones out there aren't working, I assume it's not an "all or nothing" type of failure but a deterioration in performance (which is more difficult to notice). Maybe those who are claiming laggy startups and slightly lower benchmark scores in some of these other threads are in the 65% group?
Oh boy.... They've got a long ways to compete with TSMC.
Back to the screen issue, just saw this article
