S22 Ultra issues with screen.

Yes, it does not appear in the screenshots.
Sounds like hardware, however it could possibly be corrected through an update if it's video driver related incompatibility. If I were in your shoes i would be tempted to return it unless you here something positive before the return period is over.

Between that thread and the reddit thread there are a lot of unhappy exynos processor phone owners.

Here's an article on the problem and the fix...

Some Galaxy S22 Ultra Units Are Facing A Weird Display Issue

https://www.androidheadlines.com/2022/02/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-display-issue.html

"The only users reporting this issue are using the Exynos 2200 model of the phone. While this issue is annoying, it seems that there’s a fix for it. According to Sam Mobile, turning the display to Vivid mode seems to fix the issue. This just points to a minor software bug that an update can iron out."

Doesn't sound good at all. Samsung need to fix this asap. It's a pretty major issue.

According to a poster in another thread it doesn't show up in screenshots so that implies it's hardware related.

If it's affecting every exynos model it might be possible to fix it with a video driver update or something along those lines, but that remains to be seen.

They have to fix this stat..

To be honest, I think they should consider shelving the Exynos until they can make one that will match up to the Snapdragon. I mean, I thought by now with Exynos, Samsung would have made sort of their own little super processor like Apple but it consistently lags the Snapdragon (even if just a little bit). Now with this stuff - Samsung really doesn't need bad press on this.

"Samsung’s issues with yield are concerning. It’s said that the yield of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 manufactured by Samsung Foundry is 35%. What that simply means is that out of the 100 pieces that are manufactured, 65 are defective. The yield for Samsung’s own 4nm Exynos 2200 is shockingly said to be even lower than this."

Yikes! Hope I'm in the 35% group

It's not a major issue. A major issue is a hardware problem that a software update cannot fix. This is a software problem. The update should be sent out in a matter of weeks. In the mean time, switch to vivid display mode.

How exactly would we know if we have one of these substandard chips in our phones? Since we don't hear that 65% of the phones out there aren't working, I assume it's not an "all or nothing" type of failure but a deterioration in performance (which is more difficult to notice). Maybe those who are claiming laggy startups and slightly lower benchmark scores in some of these other threads are in the 65% group?

Probably download Samsung info app or CPUz app in play store I believe one of them will say

Oh boy.... They've got a long ways to compete with TSMC.

Not surprised. Samsung's foundry is very inefficient. I read that Samsung's 4nm nodes were roughly equivalent to TSMC's 7nm nodes, so it's not an apples to apples comparison. If you're getting a TSMC manufactured processor, it's going to be more efficient.

Hopefully Samsung can improve their foundry's and improve efficiency/yields. Otherwise TSMC is busy constructing a plant in the US which will manufacture chips. That will increase supply of chips in the coming years.

Samsung is building a large 17 billion plant in TX to open in 2024. Not sure if there is a foundry or just a chipset facility.

If I had a phone with a display and that flickering line, it would be packaged up and returned. Understand some say it can be fixed with software; probably so. But if over the return days and it cannot be fixed..you're screwed. Will all those saying it can be fixed, pay for all the phones that cannot be fixed? Now if Samsung would send out a notice to customers that the return period is extended for people with these problems; that would be acceptable. Doubt that will ever happen.

I've got the Exynos version. I've tried everything to recreate the issue on mine but simply can't so there must be other variables at play other than simply the SoC. Yesterday was my first full day with the device and it was suffering pretty bad scroll lag and juddering when playing non demanding games (8 Ball pool). Today it's been close to perfect weirdly. Still some scroll lag but HOPEFULLY that'll be addressed soon.

Watch... Mine will probably have the problem... Seems to be my luck with these phones....
