Damn it, don't give them any ideas. The camera is the only way they can improve phones now days to sell them. And here I was worried. There's still plenty of room for more cameras and sensors back there.

I for one am happy with my 100X zoom. I purchased tickets late to a concert last night which left me with undesirable seats. Thanks to the S23 Ultras zoom you could not tell that I wasn't on the floor. Photos look phenomenal even after zooming in on the actual photos.Damn it, don't give them any ideas. I myself think it's a decent upgrade over the S22U for a yearly upgrade. The speed, display, and the battery life was improvements. I've never seen battery life last on a phone like the S23U. I don't do all the gimping a phone for battery life either, top display resolution, 2 minute for screen to stay on. It appears the camera is a decent upgrade, I don't know I've only used it one time to play with the zoom.I wasn't going to upgrade after the abysmal trade in value for my s22 plus. But then Google Fi ran a promotion I couldn't resist. I really wanted the lime color but alas I got green.
Google Fi has the ultra with 512gb for $599 without a trade in. You have to buy a data plan, port your number and be a new customer. You have to use the phone on their network for 4 months and it is yours free and clear. The phone is unlocked. Best deal I could find. I sold my s22 plus on Swappa and it basically paid for the half price deal.
I also got the phone a couple weeks early.
So far all the people saying it is not a big upgrade don't know what they are talking about. Now the only caveat to that is if you had an s22 ultra.
This thing is a major improvement in two pretty key areas, speed and battery life. It is the fastest Android phone I have ever had and the battery lasts a long time. I haven't even had it more than a fews days now so I expect the adaptive battery to get better in the next couple weeks.
The design is really nice. The flatter display and the flatter edges make it really nice to use. The speakers sound great and big improvement over my plus.
The screen is really nice and amazing how much bigger it is than my old plus. I also really enjoy having quad hd. Color temperature was a bit off by default but I was able to adjust that to my liking.
It charges pretty fast. One UI 5 seems really good and I enjoy the sPen.
Plus we will get Android 17 on this device and with the faster ufs 4.0 storage ddr5x ram, and faster 8 gen 2 I think it might not skip a beat until then.
I think this might be the best phone Samsung has ever made. Obviously it is not perfect as no phone ever is but I think Samsung deserves more credit than they got from initial reviews.

I myself would say for a yearly upgrade going from the S22U to the S23U is a decent upgrade, more so over most yearly upgrades.

I was at work the other day sitting to 3 other guys - who are all iPhone users. They saw all the lenses on the back and kind of laughed. I told them "Don't worry, in about 3 years Apple will begin adding more lenses to the iPhone and call it an innovation and claim they were the first."And here I was worried. There's still plenty of room for more cameras and sensors back there.
