S23 ultra

I caved. This AM at the AT&T store. I blacked out. …when I awoke…I had it. Happy Days!!

That is definitely the way it happens. No one would upgrade if it were not for blackouts. They take advantage of us while we are unconscious

And here I was worried. There's still plenty of room for more cameras and sensors back there.

Damn it, don't give them any ideas. The camera is the only way they can improve phones now days to sell them.

I for one am happy with my 100X zoom. I purchased tickets late to a concert last night which left me with undesirable seats. Thanks to the S23 Ultras zoom you could not tell that I wasn't on the floor. Photos look phenomenal even after zooming in on the actual photos.

I wasn't going to upgrade after the abysmal trade in value for my s22 plus. But then Google Fi ran a promotion I couldn't resist. I really wanted the lime color but alas I got green.

Google Fi has the ultra with 512gb for $599 without a trade in. You have to buy a data plan, port your number and be a new customer. You have to use the phone on their network for 4 months and it is yours free and clear. The phone is unlocked. Best deal I could find. I sold my s22 plus on Swappa and it basically paid for the half price deal.

I also got the phone a couple weeks early.

So far all the people saying it is not a big upgrade don't know what they are talking about. Now the only caveat to that is if you had an s22 ultra.

This thing is a major improvement in two pretty key areas, speed and battery life. It is the fastest Android phone I have ever had and the battery lasts a long time. I haven't even had it more than a fews days now so I expect the adaptive battery to get better in the next couple weeks.

The design is really nice. The flatter display and the flatter edges make it really nice to use. The speakers sound great and big improvement over my plus.

The screen is really nice and amazing how much bigger it is than my old plus. I also really enjoy having quad hd. Color temperature was a bit off by default but I was able to adjust that to my liking.

It charges pretty fast. One UI 5 seems really good and I enjoy the sPen.

Plus we will get Android 17 on this device and with the faster ufs 4.0 storage ddr5x ram, and faster 8 gen 2 I think it might not skip a beat until then.

I think this might be the best phone Samsung has ever made. Obviously it is not perfect as no phone ever is but I think Samsung deserves more credit than they got from initial reviews.

I myself think it's a decent upgrade over the S22U for a yearly upgrade. The speed, display, and the battery life was improvements. I've never seen battery life last on a phone like the S23U. I don't do all the gimping a phone for battery life either, top display resolution, 2 minute for screen to stay on. It appears the camera is a decent upgrade, I don't know I've only used it one time to play with the zoom.

I myself would say for a yearly upgrade going from the S22U to the S23U is a decent upgrade, more so over most yearly upgrades.

So far in with less than 48 hours with it...

Speakers are much better than S22U. S22U speakers were worse than the N20U so I was disappointed about that. But these are a notch louder and better sound. Probably better than the N20U.

Battery consumption seems a lot better. Usually during first 48 hours of setup and playing with new phone you are going through battery fast. But initial feeling is that it's not consuming as fast as my S22U. The idle time seems much better... iPhone-esque.

So far, so good.

I never plan to upgrade yearly or even 2 years but the deals the last few years were just ridiculous and if it works around with your plan/contract at the time. I've think in the past I said if you can upgrade and not spend more than 200-300 on it then not bad.

For me, to upgrade from Note 8 (had 3 years) to N20U cost me about $300. N20U to S22U $300 (almost 2 years). S22U to S23U in less 1yr ($200). Difference this year is that I gave them a 5 year old iPhone to get my $1000 so I still have my S22U.

So I could sell my S22U on Swappa and basically say it covered the cost to upgrade my last two phones. :D

Or, even though I am in a contract with AT&T now, I can hold on to it and use the S22U and S23U together to cover the cost of an unlocked S24U through Samsung.com if their trade-in amounts suck next year and wouldn't affect my contract with AT&T lol. There are always ways to work around contracts. ;)

But I'm pretty happy with the performance of the S23U and stick with it for a few years.

Does anyone know how to fix the voice transcription when you're doing voice to text and it's constantly in putting "?" marks after every few words ? I never had this problem on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus.

Thanks.

I was at work the other day sitting to 3 other guys - who are all iPhone users. They saw all the lenses on the back and kind of laughed. I told them "Don't worry, in about 3 years Apple will begin adding more lenses to the iPhone and call it an innovation and claim they were the first."

That's déjà vu, for sure!
