S3 mini internal storage not functioning properly

Hi

i seem to be having a similar problem that i cannot resolve. I store all my Pictures & videos on micro sd card but when I check my storage it is showing up as 1.53g used for Pictures & videos on my internal storage! (max capacity 4.55g on my S3 mini). Even if I delete pics vids etc this doesn't reduce the storage!

Help please.

Download DiskUsage and then post the results of the area where the supposed files are and we might be able to help

Here is a screenshot of my phones internal memory.

I have about 60 pics stored on my microsd card which are also showing up on my phone's internal memory?!? If I delete them all the memory on my phone doesn't go down? My available memory is 318MB but when I download an update to an app which is approx 11MB it says I have insufficient storage space?!?

I am very confused.

After resetting the phone the problem is still there. For example when I go to sleep its 152Mb left when I wake up its 142Mb It was in Airplane Mode all night, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off.
If I make some free space, I only have it for 1-2 days then its gone, so I decided not to delete anything from now on (I have like 30 apps left). Happens to my friend too.
Oh and my 60 low res pictures are now taking 1.77Gb, videos are deleted. It must be something with the Image Thunmbnail Cahce which I can't delete. If I check it with PC I can not find anything that weighs that much (1.77Gb).

Here is what else I tried:

Cleaning all possible caches

Deleting different apps

Deleting my messages

Factory reset

Same problem with my S3 mini . Free ROM is always 154Mb after resetting. Would appreciate if someone can help out

copy all pictures, music and videos to the external card from the my files app. wipe the phone and reload s3 mini software. this seems to fix the issue with the storage problem.

goodluck!

Does this erase all installed apps aswell??
Does what? There are lots of posts above yours - it's helpful to quote the post that you're referring to so that everyone knows what you mean.
A Factory Reset will erase all of your apps and any data on the internal memory (anything on an SD card [if present] is safe).
Wiping the system cache in Recovery mode is safe.

Am having the same problem. I have exactly the same samsung s3 mini gt-i1890, 16gig int memory and have just started using it but now complains of memory. I have only used 173mb.

Welcome to the forums!
but now complains of memory
There's a difference between 'memory' and 'storage' - can you post:
- a screenshot of your Storage view (Settings -> More (if using the Tab view) -> Storage)
- a screenshot of your Memory usage (long-press the Home button -> select Task manager -> swipe left or right to the RAM tab)
- a screenshot or the text of the error you're seeing

"You don't have to root your phones to fix this problem. Just dial *#9900# on the phone and then select from menu - delete dumpstate/logcat. I tested this solution on my SGS2 and it works. "

Hi there, this solutions works with Samsung Galaxy 3 mini :)

I have a sgs3 mini and had same problem. #9900# didn't work. After 3 days of trying everything even attempting to rooting phone I discovered the problem was with Google Drive. I cleared data from there in application manager in settings and all fixed. Freed up 4 gigs of space. I had uploaded my music from sd card to Google drive. That was the problem. My music is still on the drive so that wasn't lost there either. Hope this helps some of you.

I have the same ******* problem exactly. What the hell do you install? Is it a virus of some sort? please help.

You are going to love me for this... dial *#9900# and choose "delete dumpstate", your problem will be solved.

Dial *#9900# and choose "delete dumpstate", your problems will be gone!

I have 4.4gb

Hi
Is it perhaps possible that it is related to the different definitions of one gigabyte? I.e. the binary definition: 1 gigabyte equals 1024^3 bytes (1024 bytes = 1 kilobyte). However, the decimal value of one gigabyte is 1000^3 bytes. When you calculate your free space using the decimal system, your results will differ from the amount calculated by the system (memory sizes are defined using binary values).

Hi,
When you recalculate, do you use the binary values? If you use the decimal values, the total amount of free space would not add up, of course.
