Hi all,

I have an unbranded (I think, brought in Australia July 2012) GT-I9300 running 4.1.2 jellybean.

Issue of the last two days has been not being able to connect to any wifi - never had a problem with this before. I have restarted a lot, taken the battery out several times and I am probably looking at a factory reset I guess?? but can't backup for several days as I'm travelling. Anything I can try? I've done the *#0011# wifi power saver switch off and the other things mentioned here: How to Fix Samsung Galaxy SIII Wi-Fi Problems

Now, my phone is instantly restarting whenever I switch wifi on, or if I turn it on with wifi already switched on, the phone automatically restarts before I can unlock it!

Not sure if it helps, but my phone started restarting everytime you reconnected to a new wifi source, 2 jellybean updates ago. Before this it all worked perfectly

I also dropped it in the toilet about 2 months ago :-$ but took the battery out instantly and this never caused a problem - could this finally be catching up with the phone?? honestly everything else works 100%

If there is anything I can try pre for full reset, please let me know

Thanks
James

Pretty much just guessing here, but...

Do you have multiple wifi profiles stored on the phone? Does it happen regardless of which wifi access point your trying to connect to, or only one?

If you only have one set up, or it always crashes on the same one, I'd try deleting that profile, rebooting, then recreating it.

I experienced the same WIFI problems after updating to Jellybean. I have resolved this issue and my WIFI is working without any connection problems. The Jellybean update is not compatible with all 802.11 Standards. My Actiontec wireless router only supported 802.11 G. This is the problem with this upgrade. I have upgraded my network to a ActiontecGT784-WN This DSL Wireless router will support 802.11 B, 802.11 G, and 802.11 N The Jellybean upgrade apparently doesn't support 802.11 G So much for backward compatibility! I wasn't going to wait until the next OS fix to correct this Issue. I have read and tried several of the so called "Fixes" for this issue in this forum. None have worked, which led me to investigate further concerning the WIFI compatibility issue, which was the whole issue all along. Hope this Information is helpful. I am running the Jellybean version of Android on a Verizon Razor Maxx.

Re: S3 Wifi issue - always says incorrect password

Hi all,

Phone ended up getting flashed, they said they updated the software? still says android version 4.1.2

Problem hasn't been fixed. Now when I go to connect to a network, with the correct password, it says 'incorrect password'. I have done this on several networks now, with passwords I know.

Any ideas?

Could this be a hardware issue from possible water damage as I did drop the phone in the toilet 4 months ago...

I am getting the same incorrect password issue, i tried factory reset on my phone but it doesnt help at all.

Got the same problem... since 17/07. Every time i try to connect the wifi, my phone is instantly restarting... any suggestion????

I have an instant solution for all of you if you have the time. Obviously, this is samsung software related. An instant way to solve this problem would be to root and install a custom rom (such as CyanogenMod). I used to always use touchwiz, but it does have its occasional problems. I've found most problems to be solved by installing a custom rom, just a suggestion. Now, I know some people don't want to do that. Why don't you just downgrade? Get one of the old image files for the phone and flash it back down using odin. That should temporarily solve your problem until samsung can resolve the issue

1st solution:
some users tried involves opening the Phone app and dialing *#0011#. This opens a special ?ServiceMode?. From here, tap the menu button and go into WiFi and then hit the ON button to switch it to OFF. Hit the back button twice to exit the screen.

2nd solution:
turning off a couple of Wi-Fi settings. Go into the Advanced menu from the Wi-Fi settings on the S III and uncheck Network notification and Auto connect.
