S4 not as good as an iPhone

That the nexus is a developers device that's not even considered a smartphone to many, poor camera and a crap battery.

Point stands that people rag on the iphone for being non-inovattive but forget the basics of what a smartphone should do.

Nexus cameras are crap, battery is crap...

Six months a newer, better device with a better processor comes out and you switch.

To me, Nexus is trash period.

It's a nerd device for a niche few.

Seems like blind hate to me. The Nexus 4 actually has good battery life (5-6 hours screen time) and a decent camera. The N5 will have a greatly improved camera and hopefully some software optimizations for battery life like the Moto X has.

It's nice to keep an open mind :)

Everything is beaten rather soundly within six months or so except nexus and iOS devices, that's the nature of the business for now. Except that didn't happen to any of the nexus devices in terms of performance. Early 2013 was a conversation about the HTC One vs the Nexus 4.

Nexus and iOS have 5/5 of the top tablets available today and the nexus 4 is the only 2012 device still making many people's top 5 lists.

I'd have to disagree on them not being smart phones, although I completely agree that the camera on the n4 is nowhere near as good as the iPhone 5. Despite the camera, the nexus line is still by far the best value per dollar available and its taken 10 months for anything to come out to beat its speed and fluidity. And even the camera wasn't bad, it just wasn't best. You can still get great photos easily, just not iOS quality because that's a different focus area.

"Nexus = junk" is a tough sell in a place with a technology literate audience.

XT1060. Through spacetime.

?? Seriously you have not used a Nexus 4 correct? I continuously get 4+ hours screen time. Both my kids have iPhone 5's and their phones are always dead. They get no where near what I get. The camera is better on an iPhone but I get some great pics with my Nexus 4.

Not sure why you are hating on a great device that is blazing fast for... Oh ya $250 off contract.

Saying a nexus is bad is like walking in church with porn. Just does not happen. I would go on a rant but the guys above are spot on.

I am comparing iPhone to Android, and unfortunately the cheap junk is part of Android. And I did state that the cheap stuff was hurting Android.
You realize you're trying to compare the "build quality" of open source software to specific hardware, right?

Build quality can't be a problem with Android because it's open source software. What you're talking about this only applies to OEM's and should probably be talked about on a device by device basis.

So, you can't figure out that I am talking about Android phones, not the software? Sheesh! Everyone knows that a ton of cheap junk Android phones have been put on the market, and even some not-so-cheap ones. But they have dramatically improved. That cheap junk has contributed quite a bit to their dominating worldwide market share, although they don't dominate as much in the U.S., and are losing share in the U.S..

Ok 53, you're on timeout! :p

Go to your Pappy Apple and play with your iPhone toys! :D

Anyway, you seem to hate all or most of all related to Android. This is an Android forum not an iPhone's forum...c'mon, run along.

Aw, aren't you being cute with your little remarks! I am not against Android, as I have had many, and will have more. If you read my earlier post, you will see this: " The top-tier Androids are much better now, and I am strongly considering a Moto X, as I returned my iPhone 5 today." So, Does that sound like I hate Android?
But facts are facts, and a LOT of cheap Android junk phones have been put on the market. Maybe you haven't been around long enough to know this, I don't know. But either way, there is no denying it. And kudos to Apple for never putting junk out there.

That's because they make only one phone. They don't allow other OEM's to design hardware to utilize their operating system like Google does with Android. If they did, maybe we would have a more innovative design with more options, rather then just a boring phone. That's what makes the Android system impressive, there is a phone that will work for everyone, from basic to high end. Apple have one design, designed and built by Apple (through Foxcom) under Apples full control, that's why the build quality of the one and only phone is rather good. For me, I have a GS4 for personal use and an IP5 for work, I use the GS4 more as it dues what I need, the IP5, besides work email, is used for Itunes. I feel the camera is better on the GS4, the IP5 feels much more fragile then my GS4, when they issued the IP5 at work, we all were asking for cases to put them in (I use the Lifeforce case). Don't forget, perception of quality is based on personal use. When I got the GS4, people were all over the forums about lag, never had any issues with that, but I have lag all the time on the IP5. I have never had any of the hardware issues reported on phones going way back to the OG device. When you have more then one OEM producing Android phones, quality will very.

iPhones are only boring to Android and Windows Phone (is Windows Phone worth mentioning? ...didn't think so, but hey). Everyone doesn't want what android has to offer. Why should they? Some enjoy a simple experience that just works as expected, time and time again. Why not? We have both platforms. Yea. Why do folks here still try to place one above the other? What is it you hope to gain?

The Order Odonata. There can be only one.

This is just human nature. We try to prove our choice is better. That we made the better decision. Everybody has their own opinion about each platform, but I tend to find the one they like the most they're on. For an example, the person may hate windows phone and love ios. Anybody who gets a Windows phone will be talked down to by them saying it's not as good a choice. We defend what we like the most and bash anything else

Re: s4 not as good as an iPhone

A 64 bit processor in a device that small isn't amazing? I'm not entirely wowed by the 5s and will keep on using my s4 but people are downplaying the heck out of the processor because it's apple.

I will agree, having a 64 bit processor is pretty amazing. And it being the first of its kind is just like Apple. Look how they did with the very first ipod and iPhone

my shiney new S4

Uhm should we praise ARM For developing the ARMv8?
Or Apple for buying the chip off the shelf?
