S5 over iPhone 6

I have both Apple and Samsung. The Apple 5c is my company phone and the S5 is my personal. Apple is so boring I cannot see myself converting back to Apple. The only thing I can give to Apple is that their laptops are pretty sturdy.

Agreed. I have a rMBP 13" and it is by far the best laptop I have owned. And that includes two Windows ones that were supposed to be competitors.

That's a fair assessment. I personally havn't had any problems with my S5 so far (knock on wood). If you like Apple for what they do then enjoy it! Everyone has specific needs or wants from their device of choice. I'm just pointing out some things that I've noticed that are very old Android concepts that are just being introduced on the new iPhone that the media is trying to act like it's so great and innovative.

I do know ios runs smoother then Android for the most part so it doesn't require as much processing power or ram but idk bout "running circles" as you say, Lol. I do hope you enjoy your iPhone 6 when you get it, come back and tell us how you like it once you have spent some time with the device.

You're 100% right about that, the media acts like Apple invented sliced bread, year after year. I'm not a blind loyalist to anybody or anything, and that most certainly includes Apple. I love my Macbook Pro, my iPad Mini, my previous iPhones, and I fully expect to love my iPhone 6 Plus. I'm very excited about the extra screen real estate, but who do I have to thank for that? Samsung. Had they not created the Note and gotten a large segment of the market comfortable with using a phablet, Apple surely wouldn't be offering a 5.5" phone. They also didn't create NFC payments, that's been around for years, but it appears that Apple's involvement is really pushing retailers to adopt the technology, which is a win for us all. Apple Pay is also very appealing in that it provides an extra layer of security by never giving the store your credit card information (they also don't keep it themselves, nor do they know what you bought, where you bought it, or how much you paid for it).

All this competition just makes it better and better for the consumers. Whether you buy the Galaxy S5, iPhone 6, Note 4, or iPhone 6 Plus, all that matters is that you're happy with your investment; and if you're not, keep searching until you find something that you are happy with, because there are countless options available these days.

Glad you're happy with the iPhone. I was a long time iPhone user and switched to samsung in 2012. I tried the iPhone 5S earlier this year but only lasted 28 days. But different storkes for different folks as they say. I'm just glad that at have so much choice these days.

Likewise. But out of curiosity, what made you dislike the iPhone 5S? Was it the small stature, lack of customization, or something else?

The iPhone 6, bringing 2012 technology to mid 2014.

The only difference is Apple will do them RIGHT so they WORK properly........

iOS doesn't require a 2&3 GB of RAM and quad core processors to run at the same speeds and sometimes faster than Android OS.

I like the iPhones. They're a quality product and a lot of things just work better on iOS. I do love the customization of Android and their HD screens. I'll probably trade my S5 toward a iPhone 6 in the coming weeks and probably wind up trading the iPhone toward a Note 4 and the 4 toward S6.

All the phones pretty much copy off of each other in someway. I like the round edges, but love my Samsung Gal s5. It's a competitive market!

Don't forgot you can get windows on it :) and then there's no bloatware or anything :) just like carriers can't bloat iOS :)

Boot Camp isn't very good. You lose the battery life, trackpad and scaling driver support. And a VM like Parallels gives worse performance. I just stick to OS X, which I actually like a lot more

Nice :) I agree os x is better then windows a lot of the times :)

It's great. I think the 16:10 aspect ratio is a bigger deal than the pixel density though. Color accuracy is also up there :D

They've worked properly for years. I would sell your S5 ASAP if I were you. Samsung devices don't hold their value for as long as the iPhone. You can put the money you get towards your iPhone 6.

A few things!

The small screen was one.

Others were:
Lack of a real filing system
Poor sharing options
Lack of customisation
Non removable battery
Low resolution screen/lack of Amoled
Lack of third party keyboards
Lack of Widgets
Lack of S-view window
Tethering did not work well on it
Poor notification management/pannel

Software bugs with ios 7: re-springs and reboots. Lots of crashes. (probably been fixed now)

I also missed touch wiz guestures like palm Swype for screen capture, silencing a call by placing face down. Quick dialler features. Customisable notification bar.

Despite being an iPhone user in the past and still using iPads, ipod touches and the Apple TV, a big part comes down to familiarity with samsung devices. Sure I was still using ios devices but samsung had been my daily driver for over 2 years. On a Samsung phone over the two years I've been able to set things up just how I like it. So I'm pretty set it my ways :)

The iPhone 6 is a step in the right direction and is a good upgrade for iOS users but offers me little to nothing over my current phone. In fact its like a step back for me. The NFC payments is fine if you live in the US. However like many things I expect it will take years to roll out over here in the UK. We are still waiting for iTunes radio, we only have about 5 apps that work with passbook, only one of which I've actually every used.

You have still failed to read the initial post of my thread, haven't you. Unfortunately I'm stuck with this POS for another 4 months because of the contract I am in with Samsung.......

Going to try and make the best of it though.

Is it a loan phone or a rental? Are you not allowed to sell it?
