I've been told that the top layer on the s7 active is not replaceable, which sucks because it scratches and wears out really fast. However, according to samsungs website it is:
Galaxy S7 active Screen Protector Replacement Kit

Can anyone confirm, because this fixes the one issue with this phone for me. Kit even comes with a tool to remove the top layer

I called samsung and it looks like it's not yet available, but it seems they do intend on providing replacements and it's meant to be changed by the user.

The kit includes a replacement top layer, a removal tool, a dust removal sticker, and a microfiber cloth.

I don't know what the cost will be. Motorola has a similar kit for their tough phone and it costs $30

I bet that most people with screen damage issues have a pristine glass screen under the protective layer. In the meantime if you could peel the top layer off without the tool you could just use an aftermarket screen protector, but I think it's the polycarbonate layer that provides the shatter resistance

that is simply a plastic or glass screen protector; NOT a replacement for your scratched polycarbonate screen; that layer is heat bonded to the glass. the top polycarb layer is NOT replaceable.

The pdf spec sheet shows you how to remove it. It's only viewable on the desktop version of the page. It's titled "screen layer replacement guide". Step 1 is how to remove old screen layer

I get it, and I'm happy about it. What I don't get is why is the phone pictured on the website so different than mine? The sensors that are on the left of the speaker at the top of the phone are on the right on in the picture, for example. Is the ATT variant that different? Also my S7A has a gap between the home button and the other two tactile buttons, but the picture shows a line and no gap.

Idk why the picture is wrong on the webpage The description also seems to be generic placeholder text for a screen protector, but the pdf instructions show the correct phone and more detail about the replacement

Samsung confirmed the part number for me, but no eta on availability or price yet

did they confirm that the polycarb layer on the OEM screen IS REMOVABLE? it appears the item is just a screen protector, and the linked article referenced is simply their method to remove an old screen protector, NOT the OEM polycarb layer built on the phone as it exists 'out-of-box'.

It is removable. I was able to peel mine off at the top a little. It is much thinner then a normal screen protector. Which is probably why some people thought that you can't remove it. It is a thin polycarbonate sticker, you can't even tell it's there until it scratches and wears out from your thumbs

Just waiting for the replacements to be in stock. I wouldn't recommend trying to remove it with out the tool that comes in the kit, although I was able to lift the polycarbonate layer off at the top with a very small screwdriver

Im Thrilled they made a replacement for it, I still want to put a slab of glass over mine...does anyone have a glass screen protector they like?

I have always liked zagg glass.... Doesn't surround the buttons on the bottom... And as such, doesn't make the buttons seem to disappear touch wise.

Agreed. Plus the Bodyguardz have had some issues.

The bodyguardz glass you buy at att dont properly adhere to the polycarbonate screen. They leave air gaps and allow water under them.

what issues? curious as i only spent $4 a pop, and i have no loyalty to any company for accessories OR phones.
There were a few reviews that said they were not adhering well to the screen even after being applied in stores.
