S7 battery problem?

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, that image is too small to see details -- can you try again?

Also, it would help to see some other stats. Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen (like the one you showed us above).
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

You might have to install a 3rd party battery monitor, like GSam Battery Monitor, to get the Cell Signal Strength graph.

Do you by chance have Oculus VR installed on your phone? I suddenly started getting horrible battery life a few weeks ago and read somewhere else about an issue with Oculus VR that was draining the battery with the last update. A friend of mine and his mom were suddenly both experiencing major battery issues and both had Oculus VR installed. We all removed the app and battery life went back to normal. Not sure if Oculus resolved this or not, but it cut my battery life by more than half of what i was getting before/after.

I thought they had patched this issue with an update a week or two ago. But that's definitely something to try!

With modern devices and batteries, there's no risk of "overcharging," because the device determines if it needs to draw current to charge or not. Not charging enough also will not harm the battery, because lithium batteries don't have a "memory" like older nickel-based batteries did.

The main rule of thumb for modern lithium batteries is not to let them discharge deeply too often (i.e., letting the battery die or drop down to <20% or so). Ideally, start recharging around 30-40%.

Battery University is an excellent resource for this kind of information: Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University

I get tired of this very old subject of battery charging, its based on nicad technology, few devices if any have nicads almost all phones, laptops and tablets have Li ion tech so no worries on overcharging or recharging early. Soon this will change with solid state batteries and the new immortal battery tech just discovered

That looks pretty good. 5.5 hrs of screen-on time with 39% battery left is excellent, in my opinion.

I find it easier to use the "Insert Image" function, if you're using the main AC Forums website on your computer. Click on the Insert Image icon, which is in the 2nd row of the editing ribbon, just to the left of the video clip icon.

How hot does it get? Does it get to the point that it's painful to hold? What are you doing when it overheats?

Turn power saver on. My battery lasts almost 2 days with it enabled.
Not the Ultra saver. Just Power saver.

Does it need to last 2 days? Are you away from a charger for that long? Because I can't see any other reason to go that long. Otherwise why would you push it that far in power saver unless you just don't use it in which case, why have a smartphone as powerful as the S7? Any time I've used power saver the phone is slow and sluggish.

I've gotten to the point where I'm done obsessing over battery life. Unless I find something sucking my battery down several percent an hour when I am not using it I don't worry about it anymore. I use my phone, I try to make sure I have all the features I want to use available and I disable the rest that I can. I just don't want to use a crippled device, if I'm out and below 50% I'll flip the power saver on to get me through and I have had some days where I've kicked the ultra power saver on. But again unless I find an app going rogue and sucking down a lot of power I don't worry about it. I plug mine in mid afternoon every day at my desk and leave work with almost a full charge for the evening. If you are away from a charger for long periods, sure use the power savers, otherwise enjoy your phone and just plug it in.
