Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else has an issue with the paint flaking under the glass?
GalaxyS7-Flaking.jpg
I noticed this one morning on my S7.
It hasn't been dropped, there's no damage to the glass in this area, but the paint has flaked - I can't even see where it's flaked to!?!

Running my finger along the seam, there's no edges, no lifting, nothing I can see that would mean any damage to it.

That is definitely odd. Did you spill anything on it by chance or anything of that nature?

No spillage or anything like that, not that I can remember!
It's only a little over 2 months old, so I'm going to push for a replacement through either Vodafone or Samsung as I think it's more a manufacturing fault than anything else.
If I'd dropped it & there was damager there, I'd suck it up, but it just seems to have disappeared!

Really stupid question. Could you have had it in your pocket rubbing against keys? Let me explain. I've got a very similar spot on my phone which was caused by my keys rubbing against my phone while I was out going for a walk one day. I feel nothing at all, no texture change etc. but there's a definite spot where it's like the keys rubbed off onto the glass. I'll try to get a picture when I get off work.

I see that the paint on the speaker grill is coming off too. It's getting white from the edges. This explains that the phone has been in contact with some harsh surface. Just putting it in the pocket regularly can't discolor the grill.

Maybe you unknowingly rubbed it against some hard surface. While it is odd, the speaker grills appearance seems not very odd.

I can understand the speaker grille, that's external, so may have rubbed against anything in my pocket or in the car etc.

The bit that's flaked off is under the glass though, so hasn't been exposed - That's what I don't understand :/

Repair guy where I used to work said something similar on an S6 was caused by pressure on the phone.

I have exactly the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy S7. Down in the bottom corner of the phone on the right hand side just underneath the previous page touch area. It looks like the paint has flaked away and it has started to go rusty. Like you I haven't dropped it and it hasn't been anywhere near water, (and by the way the S7's main selling point is that it is supposed to be water resistant up to 6ft) This is happening from the inside of the phone, from inside the sealed plastic covering. Warranty is for 24 months so you would expect to get it replaced wouldn't you? My phone is only 3 months old by the way, I tried taking it into a vodafone shop, they said it was either condensation or I must have dropped it in water, and if they were to send it to the repair centre they would just send it back, furthermore I would be without it for 3 weeks. I said it's still under warranty can I get it replaced? Answer..... if you claim on your insurance! So here I am with a phone that's going rusty from the inside, that's supposed to be sealed against water getting in, and I can't get it replaced under guarantee because to do that I have to send it away for three weeks just to have it sent back saying there's nothing they can do because it's a replacement issue, and the person in the shop says they can't replace it without sending away to the repairers to get it an assessment on it, who will only send it back because it's a replacement issue! and the shop assistant advising me to claim on my insurance. Are you as confused as me?
