AT&T: 4 bars LTE signal strength -87 dBm 53 asu
Signal is as good as my S6 edge and my Nexus 6P
I have the same phones as you. Also seeing the same thing as far as reception is concerned.
AT&T: 4 bars LTE signal strength -87 dBm 53 asu
Signal is as good as my S6 edge and my Nexus 6P
Just compared my s6 edge+ with my s7 edge (SD820) and the signal strength is identical. ~110dBm in my house which isn't too great. That said, this is leading me to be a bit skeptical of the "TruSignal" in the SD820 variants.
The radio can only do so much. It can't make a signal be there if it really isn't. It just means it may be able to get better performance across a weaker signal or even better performance when it comes to good signal areas. The carrier still has to reach your house.
Who is your carrier? for T-Mobile I got a booster for my house (an actual LTE booster not one the piggy backs on my internet) and I get around -90 to -100 at my house now.
i have always been under the impression "bars" are for voice and 4g/4g lte indicator (some with arrows, some just change from 4g/4g lte) are what indicates data signal strength. So if you are showing ZERO bars but still have an indicator, you could be getting high data speeds but no calls will come through. ICould be mistaken, but have always understood them to be TWO separate indicators of TWO separate radios...I know i will often get a "no service" msg next to T-Mobile but can still stream or goto sites, just no texts or calls come thru....

Bars represent data connection. It used to display cell signal for calls but they changed it to how good the data connection is back in Kit Kat I believe.
Hi Almeuit!
Not to be argumentative, but i believe this is one of the biggest "misconceptions" or in this case "misreceptions" : )
"The bars on the phone are representation for Voice signals. A full bar will mean you will have the clear calls, on the other hand, the data can be seen by the type of Data service you are getting, LTE,3G(WCDMA),H or 3.5G(HSPA) and E(EDGE). Despite having the full connection bars you may have an E(For EDGE) which may give a slower network connection. It's the same thing the other way round as well, Despite getting a LTE network you may not be getting full bars, It depends on the Network tower you are connected to, the data it supports. Generally near the areas with people using less Internet over the network the companies put up towers which are good for voice signals."

This is just a couple of sources i see, but i STILL believe bars represent "cell phone signal" and data indicator (H/4G/LTE) is still in effect to indicate your data signal/ Yes there was a change in Kit Kat, but it was to MOVE the data indicator to Quick Settings, not to combine them as one...
I believe that is why when there is NO Data Indicator, i can still make calls/texts even tho my Data H/4g/LTE disappears (inside building most of day)

I went from an S4 to the S7. Love the phone, but my reception is much less than it was with the S4 and my data sometimes is completely non-existent. I can improve it by turning airplane mode on and back off, but I can't do this every 5 mins. My status says -112 and 28 asu. But I have much worse data connectivity than I did with my S4. On my cell booster, I get 1x data and cannot do anything where as I used to get 4g and 3 bars on my S4. I had to switch to my mifi which gave me 3 bars and 4g. I tested some back and forth and found consistently the same issues with my data.
I want to know if it is my phone that lacks the data connectivity or if it is the S7?
Same, is the iPhone sim card different from a Samsung's sim card? Cause I transferred my iPhone 6s pluses sim to my gs7 and whenever I go outside I get an H by my signal bars. please help
