ok before every one bashes me. I am stating my opinion, you are allowed to have your own as well.

OK now that we got that out of the way, I've looked at the dimensions for the S7 vs the S6 and I'm kinda disappointed, they've gone lower in pixel count (I know pixels ain't everything but the S6 camera was AMAZING. I constantly zoom on far objects to show my friends and they are always amazed) and it got thicker too (I know we're talking very small measurements here but still)

The only thing I'm envious towards is the bigger battery... anyone know of any aftermarket S6 battery's? lol

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

Not going to bash you but I am a fan of both improvements in the S7 over the S6 that you mentioned. Both of them take the tale of the tape away from somewhat arbitrary numbers and refocus on "how does it perform?".

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

Personally I'd rather have a thicker phone with more battery and water proofing than just a thinner device. Thinner isn't useful to me.

More battery.

I'm really liking what I've seen in terms of spec list. My last Samsung device was the S2, which I liked, but not enough to purchase another S phone. Perhaps the S7 may change that.

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

Much larger battery capacity and reduced camera hump.
Much larger pixels for better low light (think Nexus 6P camera except with OIS this time around).

The camera went a step further and not backwards. Pixels does not mean everything. The LENS itself is what counts. They put a better lens in the camera and cut down the pixel to have a better aperture. That outweighs what the s6 had by a long shot. Any professional photographer will tell you this.

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

My Z5 Compact does not take better images than the S6 edge despite having more megapixels.

For sure has OIS?

If Samsung is willing to kowtow to customers and bring back MicroSD card slot,
I guess we didn't complain enough.. that's why they didn't bring back removable
batteries in the S7. :(

Before anyone says that removable batteries aren't necessary. They are to me.
I have two do almost 2 full charges on my current Note 5 each business day
because I use it for work and require a lot of screen-on time. With my previous
Note 4, 3 and 2, all I had to do was carry a couple of spare batteries. Now I
carry a Samsung fast charging USB 5200mah battery(the gold one), so it's
a little inconvenient.

Then this phone isn't for you.

but I've been using the Note 5 just fine.. with the Samsung USB battery....
I guess removable batteries are never coming back... or are they? that's
what they said about the MicroSD card slot when the S6 and Note 5 were
release last year. :)

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

This phome make me believe again in Samsung.
Finally they make a thicker phone to have a much larger battery.
And they realise that only matter 32Gb for internal, instead of paying more 100€ to have more 32Gb, with 100€ I can have a 200Gb MicroSD. It's very difficult to use all the 32Gb with apps and games, I live with 32Gb on my Nexus 5 with everything and don't have complains.

Also, I liked the size of the phone, they don't follow the tendency to have bigger screen and body, instead focus on handling.

For the first time, Samsung made me say "Shut up and take my money".

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

They did it to improve the core functionality.

And I approve of that

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

I like that they brought back SD support. That was my only gripe with the S6. I will most likely grab an S7 on release day in the US.

Re: Thicker and Lower MP count.... really?

I've always said they should increase the thickness slightly to have a bigger battery. That's exactly what they did. Who wants to hold a phone under 7mm thick anyways. If you can add .5mm to get more battery, who's going to complain?
The 12mp camera is not a step back. The most difficult decision Samsung probably had to make with going with "only" a 12mp camera was public acceptance for the misinformed. I know the S6/Note 5 camera is excellent. I fail to believe they would take a step back. Let's wait for the camera samples.

The camera samples are already out. Man, do they look impressive.
