S8 battery not charging correctly; phone locking up

Over the past 2 days, the battery in my Galaxy S8 has not been charging properly. I have used the phone's charger as well as a battery pack. The green light stays on, but the phone locks up. The phone gets very hot and then the battery totally drains over a period of a few hours. During this time, I cannot use the phone. Has anyone experienced this? I know there was a problem with Samsung batteries. Should I replace the phone?
