AT&T Galaxy S8 S8+ MTP transfers painfully slow since last update?

Is anyone else experiencing painfully slow file transfer via their stock USB cable from their desktop/laptop to their phone's microSD card?

I'm moving 178 photos (no videos) and the pop-up first gave a time of 8 hours, then 5 then quickly down to 3... it's been a couple hours now. This used to take a minute or less...

Updates don't play well it seems with micro SDs that contain apps. That's my observation.

No apps are loaded onto the card, just photos and videos... turns out the phone isn't the problem, the SanDisk 128GB microSD card is dying...



oh well, prompted me to triple back up all of my photos...
