S9+ battery life

It won’t. It never has and I don’t expect that’ll change. My S9 is great now but so was my Note 8 before that and S8+ before that. Give it a month or two and you’ll see it’s time to reset and start again or you’ll begin to see more lag and your battery dying sooner than it had been. No hate just truth.//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180321/37a31e97a7431be31c6c0fe8cf9e7be6.jpg

My 8+ 835 version continued to have great battery life for the year I had or it, so disagree. There seems no technical rationale for the assertion it would not. I have not had that experience with any Android phone. G1, Incredible, Droid 2, Razr, S4, Note 4, MX Pure, S7, Note 7, S8, S8+. None. Added: Use my S8 still for Gear VR, which is a battery drainer. Still holds a charge well.

how long did you guys use your phone till you started to see battery improvement? this is my second Samsung phone.. had the note 7 till it was recalled and never did had much luck with battery life on that device and also experienceing the same battery life on my s9 plus.

This is my 4th day with it and I'm running out of battery within about 12 hours. I always have to charge it by night time. what also is the same as before is that I usually go from 100% to about 95% in just about 45 mins in the morning after taking it off the charger. is that normal?

Should I drain and charge the battery a few times till I start seeing an improvement?

Same here, getting pretty much the same battery as with the Note 8. Not sure why those reviewers complaining about battery life had such crappy one, but I'm not seeing that.

Should be much better battery life then the note 8. Bigger battery(300 more mah), newer more efficient processor, and Oreo. I would assume it should be getting significantly better battery life than a Note 8, although I don't own a 9+ yet so I can't compare.

Well, after 'settling in' I am getting better battery life than with the Note now. I do miss the S-Pen though.

If a few full cycles doesn't help try a hard reset and don't restore apps. Do a clean fresh start

Mine is pretty much the same as my S8+. Really if you hadn't told me I had a new phone I probably wouldn't know.

After trying a used S8 for a few days that FPS just grated too much so I have picked up the S9 and I am also not impressed with the battery (had the same feelings about the 9+ that I retuned)

I have as I always do taken the time to set it up properly as a new device, disabled all the bloat using BK, switched on data saver and applied the new background toggle for apps where I can. Sitting in standby (AOD on with brightness dialled down) it is dropping at 3-4% an hour.

Standby is always the first thing I look at and is IMO a good indicator as to how efficiently things are running on a phone, an iPhone will go 2-3 hours without dropping below 100% sometimes more, the Pixel 2, 2XL and V30 close to 2. I know there are other factors such as how each phone’s battery scale reduces but I always find this a really good (albeit anecdotal) benchmark. Typically Samsung phones have been worse than the competition and the S9 is so far worse than the S8, maybe it will settle but I am not impressed so far.

What version? My 9+ 845 so far has same battery life as the 8+. Apparently the S9 though has less battery life than the S8, based on reviews anyway. Some reviewers mention it seemed odd and even mentioned retesting later.

Exynos here, hoping it settles but it’s not a good start for sure.

So many things go into the externals of the phone. Larger battery doesn’t always equate to better battery life. Perhaps the 845 isn’t more efficient. Maybe the new features of the S9 plus are more of a battery hog. Plus, everyone uses their phone differently

Hopefully things pick up for you all.... Been pretty great on mine. Probably around 15 cycles so far

It is about 30% more efficient, but the chip is more powerful, so the net result should be similar total power consumption (seems it is), but significantly more powerful (it is). The 945 is far faster than I expected, after testing with Dolphin and MAME. Games that chugged with the 8+ are smooth now. Besides the displays curved corners and edges (still dislike bunches), the S9+ 945 is great IMO.

Where did you see this? Anandtech peeps pretty much say power efficiency ahouod be about the same. However, performance did increase quite a bit.

The iPhone also stays at 100% for an inordinately long time and then drops more quickly thereafter.

We will see. So far my Note 8 wins hands down on battery life. Out of the box I did restore some apps from backup but not all and I'm only on my 3rd cycle. Maybe a hard reset and start from scratch.

I can watch the battery life go down when I'm using the device. It's pretty bad, even with a more energy-efficient processor and a 3500 mAh battery. I kinda wish I didn't get rid of my Pixel 2 XL for this. I'm definitely not satisfied. The 2 XL had great battery life.
