S9+ battery life

I can watch the battery life go down when I'm using the device. It's pretty bad, even with a more energy-efficient processor and a 3500 mAh battery. I kinda wish I didn't get rid of my Pixel 2 XL for this. I'm definitely not satisfied. The 2 XL had great battery life.

If I'm not mistaken the Note 8 had battery life like this when first released then it had an update and it got a lot better.

I FINALLY have barely tolerable sot

SoT can be wonky to use as a judge.. such as this is my Pixel 2 XL so far.

Obviously my usage varies every day and at work but if it last me the entire day or shift, which it does I'm good.

I can't remember the last time where I needed to charge it in the middle of the day.

I get if your phone needs charging but if not they why are you paying attention to SOT, Battery Performance, etc.?

Where did you see this? Anandtech peeps pretty much say power efficiency ahouod be about the same. However, performance did increase quite a bit.

Samsung states 30% more efficient and benchmarks show equitable speed increases. It nets out overall with same chip fab. My results so far support this, since getting same battery life as 8+. Key difference though is unlike Anandtech and other sites benchmarks, my results with emulators blow the 8+ away. Emulators truly test the power of a chipset rather than benchmarks.

Anandtech mentioned the 845 does not throttle much and based on my results with Dolphin, that seems to confirm. The 9+ does note drop ir stutter like the 8+ did after a few minutes.

Which version?

don't forget we have 3 power modes if battery life is a problem and can be tweaked inside those modes

Usage is too subjective. The only thing that really matters is your own use from device to device. For me, the S9+ 945 is as good as the S8+ 835. Both are very good.

My experience so far is approximately 6 hours of SOT over a 16 hour day. The s9plus has been consistent so far and a little better than my Note 8

I'm getting 1.5 days with 3 to 4hrs sot... or 15- 18 hours with 5 or 6 hrs sot

845
My battery life is excellent. If I put it on power saving mode I can easily get 2 days out of it.
I don't make a lot of calls or use any heavy apps.
Just mainly Text, some YouTube and Clash of Clans all day long.

Did a factory reset and did not restore from backup but selected new phone. Installed almost all the same apps I had before. Took off charger at 7am and 5 hours later I'm at 71%, SOT 1:22

Sounds a lot like my S9's SoT. I have an appointment booked for next Monday at my local Samsung and I'll see what they say. My gf and brother both have the s9 and have had a better battery experience than me, and my old man's s8 almost gets double my battery. :(

Just arrived home, 12 hours off the charger and I have 24% left with 4 hours of SOT. All settings are stock and I'm running an office365 mail account for work. Now I do have a car charger and I normally charge it during the day but wanted to see what it does without charging.

Yeah that is really close to my experience too. I am happy 😁

It won’t. It never has and I don’t expect that’ll change. My S9 is great now but so was my Note 8 before that and S8+ before that. Give it a month or two and you’ll see it’s time to reset and start again or you’ll begin to see more lag and your battery dying sooner than it had been. No hate just truth.//uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180321/37a31e97a7431be31c6c0fe8cf9e7be6.jpg
My S7s battery is so bad it's virtually unusable. By noon it's at 20 percent and gets about 2 hours 20 min sot. These fixed batteries are a horrible idea due to the fact that batteries degrade. Samsung is notorious for having good out of the box battery life, and then a huge fall off to shortly follow. I bought an lgv20 brand new for 230 shipped. I have 3 extra batteries and love this phone. Samsung just shipped me a free S9 plus from their insights program(I usually get a free phone every year). So I will have to use the S9 for one full year, I hope I can deal with the battery. I couldn't pass up a free 800 phone even though the lgv20 suits my needs much better.
