S9 - How do I have phone automatically close apps when I turn my screen off?

Using S9, the last app/or screen before turning off the screen always shows when I turn the screen back on.

You can force how many apps can be active in development settings. This can be problematic though, depending on the apps your are using. The other option is power savings setting customizations. I use that and works very well to reduce activity and app polling of the hardware.

You can also create a Bixby quick command for the task.
This way you could say for example "Hi Bixby, lock" and Bixby will close all open apps and lock your phone.
