Hi all,

I am in desperate need of help with this AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 that I found in abroad. Before I get chewed out with accusations of theft, I found the phone in a restaurant and gave to the staff who returned it to me after 3 days an no one had come to claim it.

Anyway, I have been trying to unlock it for use in Italy, but I can't get past the initial setup which is asking for my original Samsung login ID, which I obviously don't have. In addition, I can't flash the rom with Odin or install off of external SD card, because I cannot root it.

Please help!!!

Thanks!

Send it back to AT&T since it's not your phone.

I would have to agree with the above posts. I would take the phone back to AT&T since they can find the owner better than anyone else.

As others have said, you should return it to att, they can find the owner.

Please do not discuss this topic any further. While I am sure that you honestly found it as you said, but please understand that there are situations in which someone stole a phone and is trying to hack it to get it to work. We do not allow this kind of discussion on this forum. Thank you for your understanding.

I will leave this thread open in case you need help getting in contact with att. Myself and others here are more than happy to help on that front.

I have this same issue only its a company owned phone and not a found device. A user turned it in to us and I need to get it factory reset so I can redeploy the phone to another user. I have already asked the user for their Samsung credentials once thinking it would let me reset the device to no avail. Every time I try to factory reset the device it comes back up to the Samsung login screen, crying about an abnormal factory reset.

Hi Guys,

I went through this experience myself and for over the past 2 weeks my phone has been with the technician who just called that it's fixed. My comments is that you DON'T register a Samsung account on your samsung device. IT'S THE BEGINNING OF PROBLEM.

I will not register on mine again to forestall this happening to me.

I'm having the same problem with my sons galaxy edge. He did a reset and got the same message. He had changed email address on his Samsung account and it wouldn't let him in. Deleted Samsung account and re-created with the original email address and password and still locked out. .I've been to several AT&T centers, they say it's a Samsung thing and there's nothing they can do about it . Gathered all documentation indicating we owned the phone. Went to a Samsung service center, no help. Told to call Samsung service and all they said was just buy a new phone. A $900 phone purchased less than six months ago it turns into a brick and all Samsung can say is go buy a new phone. They won't be able to count me as part of their loyal customer base...

Anybody got any other ideas?

Girlfriend bought the phone on eBay from a seller with over 10,000 rating. Same error, we can either reset or send back, which means the SIM card will now be set for this phone. Headaches and more... Verizon, so what do we do? Can the Verizon store do the reset? (BYOP StraightTalk)

I'm already registered but if I unregister of course same problem could ensue. I thought factory reset was meant to SOLVE problems. This is a horror story.

I've also had this issue after forgetting my ID. Samsung eventually sent me a link to update my details (via PC). I have seen a post on these forums, saying to make sure you remove both Samsung AND Google accounts b4 running a factory reset

That's quite a coincidence that you also found an AT&T S5 while abroad. Send it to AT&T and they can return it to its owner.

I have a samsung s5 I had got from someone else. This person blocked me so I have no way to get ahold of him, when I turn my phone on it asked for a samsung account I'd and password, I've tried everything and still can't get past it. Plz help

This is a security measure for which there is no work around. You have an expensive paperweight, sorry

Mod note. All possible answers have already been given. Time to close this old thread. Thanks everyone!
