Samsung Captivate Cases

My perfect case would be slim, non-slip with a lanyard loop and (if I can dream) a kickstand.

the bestbuy case is no good, i got d same one & after a week it will start sagging from the clip bec its just glued to the case, better return it before the return period expires

I just got the Body Glove black case, besides the price I think it is very nice, no lanyard and no I'm not using rubber bands and super-glue! the phone feels so much more secure in my hands and on a table etc. so I'm happy. Using the camera doesn't feel sketchy like it did before, that is a huge relief.

I actually think the phone is much nicer with the case, the size is better in my hand, it feels much more comfortable. I'm starting to consider a phone is 'naked' unless it has a case, almost like that isn't the way it is supposed to be used. Even the power and volume rockers seem better now that they aren't so easily engaged, same with the soft keys, they seem less touchy. I'm happy.

went to Sprint store for case

Based on the previous poster who mentioned an EVO case fit the Captivate, I went to the Sprint store (at&t store had nothing) and purchased a leather side-load type case. I need something to protective when it's in my purse. I put the EVO next to my Captivate while there, and the EVO is thicker but otherwise very similar dimensions. The case fits great. Has HTC embossed on the flap - but I don't mind.

So far based on what I have seen the body glove from att is about the best. I aso got that slear plastic one mentioned above and returned it the same day. I almost broke my phone trying to get it off the phone. (everyone PLEASE STAY AWAY RFOM THAT CASE).

What I am really lookin for now is a sreen protector for a reasonable price.

I also bought the Body Glove "Mirage" case from AT&T the first day I had the phone. Great fit and looks great. I was relieved that it wasn't too sticky/rubbery so it slides in and out of the pocket just fine.

I have dropped other phones in the past so a good protective case is a must for me. I also have a 3 year old and a 9 month old, and they both love to get a hold of daddy's expensive phone, so the case is just another line of defense.

I will keep using the Body Glove until a better one comes along... hopefully one that has a kickstand. :D

The best screen protectors on the market are from BodyGuardz:

BodyGuardz for Samsung Captivate

It will last longer than you plan to have your phone, and adds a tiny bit of friction to steady your swipes. Follow the instructions, be slow and patient, and let it set overnight. I just put a full body kit on my Captivate last night (except for the metal back, which looks better uncovered).

For $15, you get TWO of them, either for two phones, or for a second attempt if you botch the first one. You may opt for the full body kit for $25, but its not really necessary unless you want to go case-less and are worried about body scratches. Return customers get a 20% discount.

$15 is CHEAP protection, considering the price of the phone.

I prefer to use the device native without a case attached to the device. So, I like the pouch style cases like the neoprene one that comes with the Nexus One. They fit in the pocket with ease and still protects the device. For the Captivate, I am using the pouch case made for the European version of the HTC HD2. It works great and fits the device very nicely. The best thing is that they are cheap on ebay.

Sleepy, is the case you use the one you linked? I want to order a similar slip case like that but need to make sure it will fit the Captivate correctly. I am using a Body Glove pouch I got from Wal-Mart along with the Body Glove skin case from AT&T but the pouch barely fits.

If that is not the exact one you use, which do you? Thanks! :)

Ditto....the link you provided is exactly what I was looking for...thanks for sharing

excalis,
Yes, this is the exact one I use. The HD2 has a 4.3 inch screen like the Evo 4G and is the same size only a little thinner than than the Evo. The point is that the Captivate fits perfectly in the pouch. It is snug enough to stay in, but still easy to remove the device when the phone app rings. Also, it is the perfect length, where the top of the device meets the top of the case perfectly. I knew from using this case for my HD2, that it would be a great case for other smartphones, and sure enough, it works really well for the Captivate.

Cool...

Thanks Sleepy, that was helpful, at that price I will be ordering that today!

I too am looking for a pouch style case.

Question for those with a screen protector. I was wondering if the protectors cover the entire surface of the front of the phone, or just the actual screen part? Are the soft buttons at the bottom covered by the protector? Lastly, if the buttons are covered, does the screen protector make the buttons less sensitive?

Love my captivate!!

Thanks

~M~

There are now starting to be a few of those clear hard cases showing up on eBay. I believe this is the same case that many complained about almost breaking the phone when trying to remove it, so buyer beware, your mileage may vary.
