Samsung Captivate Cases

Looks like they're using the Vibrant for the picture, even though the description says Captivate.

Phantomskinz sells similar full body skins and they have a solid black one and carbon fiber patterns. I ordered the black carbon fiber one.

I just ordered the white carbon fiber one from Amazon after seeing a post on the Droid X forum about the white one. I'll post my opinion when it comes in and I have a chance to try it out.

I just have a hard time shelling out $30 for a set of stickers...

I am using my old Bold case and it works. Phone is a little loose but if ATT gets the body glove it will fill out the Blackberry bold case.

Got my "Carbon Fiber"

Use coupon code SUMMERSALE2010 on Phantomskinz for 30% off. I think it expires at the end of August, but they seem to have coupons fairly regularly.

I put on the black carbon fiber skin on my Captivate about an hour ago. Looks pretty good and was easy to put on, no water required. We'll see how long it holds up though...I've always had issues with the full body skins in that if any corner unstuck just a little bit, it ould pick up dirt/dust/lint and stop sticking. Then more of it would unstick and collect crap...eventually a whole corner would peel off. The corners and edges of the carbon fiber backing seem like they might be susceptible to that, but only time (and my pocket lint) will tell. Made sure nothing overlapped as best as I could.

It came with two screen shields that feel like the bestskinsever/invisibleshield/bodyguardz material (I think they all use the stuff from 3M). I've applied these so many times that I think I'm an expert now ;) Got it on pretty quickly. Even though it's cloudy now, the screen vibrancy doesn't seem to be affected. It's already starting to clear up, so I imagine it'll look fine. Touch sensitivity is still just as good as it was naked, though it seems like the capacitive buttons are marginally less sensitive (but it could also be my imagination). Not enough for me to remove the screen protector, though.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the Phantomskinz Chromatic for now. Some of the pieces aren't the exact size of the panels they cover, but that's probably better for my OCD self b/c I would have spent hours trying to get it put on perfectly otherwise.

Do you you have any pics?

Apologies for the crappy quality. Had to use an old point and shoot that was lying around. You can see how the edges pick up lint, though none of them have unstuck yet.

I went to AT&t today and they have the body skin but I ain't paying 35 bucks for it. I will wait to find one in a store like I found a charger for $12.00, instead of the $ 30.00 at at&t. Or on the web.

Here is an additional link for a pouch case that will work for the Captivate. It is another HTC case originally designed for the Evo 4G. The Captivate is over 2.75 inches wide and the Evo is only slightly wider than the Captivate. Right now, HTC is the only company producing pouch pocket cases for phones wider than 2 3/4 inches. This case is for the Asian version of the Evo, known as the HTC King. I really like the HTC leather pouch case for the Euro. version of the HD2, known as the Leo that I have been using for the Captivate in the link I posted earlier in the thread. But, I think I will give this Neoprene one a try.

hey guys, in canada and awaiting the release of the captivate. Who knows what rogers will carry. Looking for the body glove that at&t sells. Something with a smooth back so I can put this in another wallet style case. The smooth back will allow that. Since we don't have at&t up here, any net versions similar? I see the official samsung case is backordered.

The best screen protectors on the market are from BodyGuardz:

BodyGuardz for Samsung Captivate

It will last longer than you plan to have your phone, and adds a tiny bit of friction to steady your swipes. Follow the instructions, be slow and patient, and let it set overnight. I just put a full body kit on my Captivate last night (except for the metal back, which looks better uncovered).

For $15, you get TWO of them, either for two phones, or for a second attempt if you botch the first one. You may opt for the full body kit for $25, but its not really necessary unless you want to go case-less and are worried about body scratches. Return customers get a 20% discount.

$15 is CHEAP protection, considering the price of the phone.

Is the BodyGuardz protector like the Zagg protectors? Where they give everything a slight orange peel-y look, and have some stickyish resistance to them?

I had a Zagg full body on my Omnia, but I left the screen protector off because it looked and felt horrible under my fingers. Instead, I opted for a cheap one from ebay, and it actually held up quite well. I'm still hoping for something that's as smooth as the cheap Chinese ones from ebay, but with the durability of Zagg.

Not bad, but looks buly. Anyone buy one?

I bought the white one from Amazon last week and it finally shipped today. If you go to the Skinomi website and enter get25 at checkout, you get 25% off, which drops the price to $15. I conveniently found this out after I already ordered from Amazon. I can always refuse the order, but I really need to get something on my Captivate soon before it gets scratched. The Skinomi is a dry application method for the body skin and a wet application method for the screen. I'll post something back once it comes in and I get a chance to put it on.

The Phantomskinz product actually looks better as I think there is a cut-out for the Galaxy S logo. With the Phantomskinz product, all skins are dry application and you get 2 of the screen protectors. It is $29.99 (or $20.96 from the website with summersale2010 code).

Cool, post some pics if you cna. Would like to see what kind of protection it gives around the edges.

Ended up getting the Clear Acrylic Case off Ebay for $7.95 w FS. Link is who I bought it from. (actually I got the case and a car charger for $9.95, but link is just for the case)

Despite the pictures all making the case seem a little whitish opaque; once I got it here, it is crystal clear.

I think it looks nice and protects my phone in case of a drop. I'll try and take a picture of the phone and post it if anyone is interested.

There are now starting to be a few of those clear hard cases showing up on eBay. I believe this is the same case that many complained about almost breaking the phone when trying to remove it, so buyer beware, your mileage may vary.

For informational purposes:

I can remove the case I mentioned in my above post, relatively easily. (as easily as to be expected for a case that shouldn't pop off if you drop the phone)

No breaking or scratching of my phone while doing it either.
