Forgive me if this has been answered before..

For previous note 7 owners who are trading in a device to buy the note 8, have you been told you can trade in any smartphone and still get the discounted price? Or play it safe and go buy a used s5 or something and trade it in.

I was on the phone with them and they stated I would just need to place the order and pick any trade in phone and then call them back to let them know what phone I was trading in and they would create a ticket on their end.

Thoughts?

When I placed the order, using the Note 7 owner offer link they had a list of phones that was eligible for the $425 trade in and you have to select what you are sending. I choose iPhone 5 since that was the cheapest I could get in good condition. So I'm planning to send that because my order says that's my trade in device.

I would be very careful listening to reps and sending any device. If you want to do that have them send an email stating that it's ok to send any device, otherwise I can guarantee you they will deny later they ever said that.
