Samsung Dex on Note 10

I'm curious, why aren't you using method #2 - DEX via a Windows computer?

Mostly because I bought a cheapo monitor, HDMI to USC-C cable, and BT keyboard awhile ago, and I figure I might as well use them. Also there's a slight lag with method 2. Since my DeX-purposed monitor is right next to my laptop anyway, I usually just opt for the direct connection.

Hmm, interesting. Does the lag only happen upon startup? Or is there a lag whenever you click on something?

I'm actually having some issues using the Note 10 + with my Dex Station... The screen keeps going black and then the Source can't be found comes on the screen for my TV. I made sure the power brick is fully plugged in. Checked the HDMI cable to the Dex and the TV ports. Everything seems to be ok. Yet I keep getting this problem. I didn't have this with the Note 8 until the usb c adapter wore out and I bought another 2 pack of them. I use the adapter because I keep my phone in a case. And the case won't work unless I use a adapter. Should I try adapter with a extension?

I have a Note 10 and both a Dexpad and a DeX cable. It's a cool thing to use. But what is suprising is that I cannot get Microsoft Edge browser to open in Dex mode. With Samsung making a big deal about Microsoft integration, I find that suprising.

When I turned on my laptop tonight, I had a Windows notification that a new version of Samsung Dex was available. Haven't had a chance to test it out but just letting everyone know there is a software update available. :)

I can't get mine to work with the dex station and note 10 plus. It would with the note 9. If I don't use the dex station and go straight to the computer via USB cable it works. Anyone found a work around for that? I Like using the dex station being that it is already set up permanently with the computer plus it keeps charging the phone while hooked to the station.

Mine isn't working connecting USB-C to HDMI. The phone gives me a notification to use genuine Samsung DeX accessories and the Win 10 app says to reconnect which I've done. Samsung support tells me I have to buy there $36 DeX cable. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Are you trying to run DeX on your laptop/desktop? If so, the USB-C to HDMI won't work. You plug your phone into the USB port not the HDMI port. A standard USB-A to C cable will work. If you have USB-C on your system, then the included USB-C cable will work.

I didn't realize that my desktop system has a USB-C connection until I just went hunting. It works perfectly. Thanks so much for your quick response!

Awesome my company blocks so much there are a ton of broken web pages now. Mostly looking for the ability of playing downloaded Spotify playlists from my phone through Dex. I had a lot of playlists downloaded on my work computer before the IT department put the end to that working.

So I tested Dex @ work today and success! I can play my Spotify on my work computer. Chalk that up as a win for me!

It's sadly persistent throughout the whole DeX usage. Again, the lag is very minor (I'd estimate 100 ms or so). Not a problem if you're typing an email, playing a video, or whatever. I don't know that it'd be so inconspicuous if you were gaming though.

I asked that question too. It seems to be a solution in search of a problem. DeX (like Microsoft's Continuum) was designed to turn your phone into a PC type system.

Heh, I have to admit that if I were a Samsung exec or manager, I'd be circumspect about letting developers spend the time implementing this. But like I said, I did find a good use case for it: namely using personal accounts on one's work computer. I almost never connect my phone to DeX on my PC at home, but when I'm at work I use it all the time.

Is the DeX Windows 10 app a self-contained executable, or is it an install file that requires admin access to run the install program?

I have the USB c to Windows connection working on my Laptop, now I am going to give the Koopman DEX station adapter a try and see if a can get full DEX functionality on my N10+ (be good for traveling or general mobility).

**Update** I received the Koopman DEX Dock (3 USB-A, 1 HDMI, 1 USB-C to Phone, USB-C power input), connected it up to my 43" 4K TV with a basic Kbd & Mouse, it worked great, Most of the embedded apps worked fine, some 3rd party apps worked fine but not full screen (even with DEX Labs toggled) The one thing this adapter required is, You must connect a power supply (I used an older Samsung adaptive charging brick with a USB A-C cable)

Cheers,
BR

It is a .exe Windows program that you can simply download and install onto your Windows computer. Doesn't need admin access if it's your own personal computer. If you're trying to install onto a work computer that's not yours, you might be denied access.
