Samsung Direct: Galaxy S9/S9+ Official Pre-Order Thread

Found mine first in my FedEx delivery manager. Then emails and texts from both Samsung and FedEx. I'll have it tomorrow!! Woot.

Ordered 15 minutes after preorder started. Still no updates :/
No charge on credit card either. Do you guys see any charge ?

try this:

1) Create/login to fedex.com
2) After logged in, Click "Tracking" on the top of the page and select "ALL TRACKING SERVICES" - that will open up a new Tracking page
3) Click on the tab "Track by Reference"
4) In the box/field where it said "Enter up to 30 FedEx reference numbers"; enter YourOrderNumber_01 (example, my order number is ThanksSlickDeal, I'd entered: ThanksSlickDeal_01. Order number is from samsung.com)
5) Enter all the fields and click the "TRACK" button

Shocked to see you swapping. I remember you going iPhone and loving it versus Android :P.

You must not have been following me after. Since Dec. I was using the Pixel 2 XL (after the honeymoon period with the iPhone wore off I was over it) and love my Pixel but I am hopeful the S9+ can supplant it. If not, I'll return it and keep the Pixel. I have a Sammy TV so hoping I can use the phone as a Kodi sometimes and also like all of the extra's with the S9 this time. My kids will love AREmoji and I am interested in the camera. Still like iOS but mostly for iMessage and Apple Watch. FaceTime is meh now that Duo and What'sApp and Hangouts are all caught up and on everything.

Ah okay. No I didn't follow super closely. I just remember when I was doing one of my browsing sessions of iMore I saw your posts and thought "Oh wow he went iPhone" :P.

Yeah I have a problem...I go back and forth. I always go back to iOS but always instantly regret it. Then I go to Android and love it for awhile and then begin to regret it. My wife has an iPhone 8 and HATES it, nonstop weird stuff going on. She'll take 10-20 pictures and nothing will be there when she goes to photos, but guess what app has them? Google Photos. A restart usually fixes it but it shouldn't go to that.

I think my phone that I ordered direct from Samsung just shipped and will be here Wednesday. It is shipping from Indianapolis. It is shipping from Brightpoint North America which I've seen articles saying is contracted to ship Samsung devices.

My status hasn't updated on the samsung site, and I haven't gotten an email from samsung about shipping. Just the fedex tracking site that tells me about deliveries to my house.

I didn't pay anything extra for shipping expedited or anything like that, so I have 2 day delivery.

Thanks for that. It's scheduled to arrive Wednesday :)

But seriously this is the first time I'm getting a Samsung and their service regarding orders and notifications to buyers is horrendous and miles behind something like Apple's service.

Oh...samsung hasn't even charged my card yet. No pending charge. I have other pending charges from today, but none from them. Interesting. Maybe they will charge me tomorrow. Can't wait to get it though.

Worked like a champ. Thanks!

Mine picked by FedEx as well, scheduled for Wednesday delivery. Used the track by reference trick. Samsung website still showing pre-order and no shipping email from them yet.

I'll relax now and can't wait for Wednesday.

I just got a sms and FedEx app notification with tracking number. Delivery is tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/13! Package picked up in INDIANAPOLIS, IN via BRIGHTPOINT NORTH AMERICA -- same place my Gear IconX (2018) came from!

I pre-ordered on 3/5. I paid for overnight shipping, btw, so that's why I'm getting mine on Tuesday while most are getting theirs on Wednesday.

Enjoy your new S9/S9+!!!!!

I'm guessing the integration with Brightpoint isn't as good as it should be. Samsung collected the orders, sent a big list of phones and addresses over to Brightpoint as a batch. Brightpoint will probably do some sort of batch update tonight or tomorrow back to samsung to notify them of the shipments. Samsung will then batch import the shipment notifications to update the site later that day or the next. By then, you will have your phone before any notification of shipment from samsung ever hits your inbox.

I've done some development for other manufacturers where we get notified of today's shipments at 5:30 the next morning and send emails out then. It is possible for the product to arrive before they even check their email the next day.

Re: Samsung's Galaxy S9 Has An Expensive, Nasty Surprise

Be care in financing your new phone through Samsung Direct with "Premium Care." Read this Forbes article:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordon...tner=yahootix&yptr=yahoo&ref=yfp#5a520eed251c

premium care is just Samsungs version of asurion or apple care. you can cancel it at anytime, although if you do, you are booted from the upgrade program. it's the same price as asurion(at least on att). more pricey then apple care but you get 3 claims a year at $99 per, plus onsite repair. so Forbes is being a little skeezy with the spin here. my only concern (which they don't mention in the article) is the trade in credit. it states you get UP TO %50 of your purchase price back as credit when you trade in after 12 months, but since I am only financing around $600 after my current trade in, does that mean they will only credit $300 (vs half of $915 which would be $457.50)? doesn't really matter to me, as I'll be paying off the phone by then, but those planning on paying the minimum tp qualify might want to call and get some more info from Samsung.

Although FedEx shows Wednesday delivery I am concerned with the New England Nor'easter that it will get delayed and I'm on a business trip soon after.

Quick question: Do I need to pay off my trade in phone with VZ before I send it in to Samsung?

Thanks for posting that! It worked for me and sure enough my two orders have been picked up and will arrive on Wed.

Quick question: Do I need to pay off my trade in phone with VZ before I send it in to Samsung?

I did, and i think it would be good practice to do it asap. This is from the fine print of Samsung's Terms for the trade in.

"If you send in a trade-in device and it is received within 15 days of receipt of your Qualifying Purchase but does not meet all eligibility requirements, you will be charged back the value of the trade-in credit you received minus $25. Participation in this program does not excuse you from contracts with your carrier or retailer (or any related payments or fees) for the device that was traded in. You may not participate if you lease or do not own the device you would be trading in"

If you still have a balance, you don't technically own it yet.
