Samsung Epic EB13 (Froyo) Bugs

-No music widget. Coming from the EVO, a music widget is nice to have. I know there's Pandora or whatever. But what I mean is a widget you use to control the music stored on your phone's memory or that of your SD card. Perhaps there is one now and I've missed it. If so, please fill me in on where to find it or where to get a 3rd party widget that looks pretty nice and gives me this feature.

Maybe check out Winamp. I've really been liking it. Two different widgets (one with album art support), and having a free player with lockscreen controls is fantastic. Wifi sync works pretty well for getting music on the device too.

I had a problem with my GMail account not being able to authenticate the password. I had to uninstall and re install the account now it works fine.

You can choose which screen is your home screen. You can also add or subtract screens (up to 7).

Just "pinch" on a home screen - you should see all of your home screens and each one should have a button allowing you to set one as "home". That would be the one that double clicking the home button takes you to.

Thanks i did not notice that before

message text is now tiny...

Got my OTA Froyo about an hour ago...all seems good, but message text as I type it in is so tiny I can hardly see it...is there a way to play with the font? Help! My old eyes are struggling!

I updated OTA as well. What I have noticed are mostly problems with media in general. I am getting SQLite Constraint Exceptions from the music player, and from a couple other apps that use audio. The problem seems to have something to do with the database attempting to upgrade and the system not allowing it. The message is something along the lines of "Can't upgrade read-only database from version 77 to 92", however the exception being thrown is SQLiteConstraintException. Anyone else experiencing problems with their audio player/audio files? Does formatting the SDCard fix this particular issue?

*I also just noticed that attempting to change any tones (ringtone, notification, etc) causes a crash. Same errors, sqliteexception and sqliteconstraintexception.

*It seems wiping the SD-Card fixes these issues. Strange, but good to know. Again, this was caused by the "Over-the-air" update straight from Sprint. If you're having issues with media, back up your sd card to a computer and format it. This should fix the media problems.

Has Winamp been working properly for you since the update? I was excited to finally get access to the Shoutcast features w/2.2 but not a single station successfully loads. I find the widget (now) doesn't seem to sync in showing what's actually playing sometimes either.

I use RetroRadio for Shoutcast now, but it would be nice to have it consolidated to one app.

*Nonrooted, used update.zip.

I don't know if this is a bug, but it is annoying to me... When in the browser after pushing settings button bookmarks no longer come up. I can't see anywhere how to access bookmarks..

Not sure what you mean. The bookmarks button is still at the top near the URL box.

Ya the stock brouser only shows the bookmarks tab after the page has finished loading or is stopped..

Solid! Sounds pretty good! Thanks!

1. Checkerboard issue while pinch zooming in the browser
2. Camera force closes while in sports mode
3. Compass is totally hosed, 180 degrees off
4. GPS still isn't perfect, doesn't lock fast as some report, but I can live with it
5. In the call log, you can't just press the phone symbol to call a person back like in 2.1, you press the person you want to call back, then have to press call to dial
6. Overall a slightly lags compared to 2.1, but still acceptable

The SMS issue i posted about earlier got resolved. not sure Which actualy did it. But basically used Odin to flash back to the original EB13, then restored some of my texts with sms backup+. it crashed rebooted itself a couple of times when trying to access using the stock messenger or handscent. then after a couple reboots and me actually shutting it down and starting it myself it became stable, though a bit lagging. i then rooted it up to the ext4 files thing. restored the rest of my messages and same thing happened. crashed and rebooted more than before. eventually becoming stable after i manually shutdown and started it myself.

but now i have noticed the gallery is very lagging, often crashing. i have only a few hundred pics. less than at 2.1 which opened up much faster

not sure if a bug or perhaps there is some firmware update pending, but the camera recording at 720 looks like complete junk now during and after playback...very broken up, not smooth at all.....in 2.1 the vid looked like watching tv.

EB13 lagginess due to Touchwiz?

I (and other people, from what I've seen), can not STAND the constant lag of EB13 when switching home screens. With Touchwiz, the phone slows to a crawl. For example, if I hit home and start swiping between screens, my phone will just lag so bad that I want to throw it against a wall. Then, after swiping (or just letting my home screens "load") it'll smoothen out. It gets to the point of just freezing for like 3 seconds if I try to swipe past my "Buddies Now" widget and then it'll come back and let me swipe smoothly again. When I turn Touchwiz off and run stock launcher it's smooth again. But I kind of like Touchwiz lol...

The biggest thing that kept me from the Evo was the buttery smoothness of the Epic with screen transitions. I've seen people mention speed increases, but I'm not seeing it as far as screen transitions go (feel like I'm back on the Pre again).

For the record, I came from stock and have factory reseted, wiped cache, and used the Windows 7 .exe update. I guess I'm going to try and run the .exe again, but I hate this update. It feels like they just stamped EB13 on the name instead of DK28.

Mine lagged for the first couple hous after that all is good... the gps took 4 min to lock the first time but after that its with in 5 sec even after a full power down... never use the compass I have done a touchstone mod so ya that will never work...

Anyones screen shut off while they were using their phone?? It happened to me twice throughout the day today. I know the phone was on because the bottom keys were lit up. I had to take the battery off to fix the problem.

Yep I had that issue after I tried using the camera in sport mode. First it crashed then it recovered then it went to sleep and refused to wake up again. Only the function keys at the bottom would glow.
