Samsung Galaxy 4: Deleting calls from call list

I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy 4. I think the start guide is terrible doesn't give u information on very few of the things available on this phone. My question is there way to delete long lists of call or one call at a time some addressed this but I tried her way with no changes. Someone told that u can just let them keep piling up with no problems can someone answer these questions. thanks
