Samsung Galaxy J1

My Galaxy J1 was rooted and when I reset my phone it always gets stuck on the checking for updates screen. Is there a way that I can hook it up to a computer and restore it to the point it was at when I first bought the phone at the store? If so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
