Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

You may be correct I have already had one device replaced though. At this point if I am not satisfied I will just go back to my previous device and chalk this up as a loss. Overall its a sweet device though, no other complaints.

You may have a defective camera if all your shots are coming out blurry. Since you just got it, I would call and request a replacement. This happened to a couple guys on the S3 forum I frequent, and after a replacement, they no longer had camera problems. Don't just assume your camera doesn't take good pictures, (Especially on newer devices) it could very well be a hardware issue.

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

I sent from an iphone 4 to a note 3. One of the reason I change my phone, is that I wanted a better camera. It's not terrible but it could be a lot better

Here is a picture I took other it.

wow! That is a beautiful picture! Looks like Portait Studio quality : )

How long ago did you take that pic?? Could it be the camera is fine, but your cat is getting burry & grainy with age? lol j/k!

It's a great camera. If you like Android there are not many better cameras.

The Note 3's camera is not as good as the Note 2's. It seems Samsung is more concerned about 13 megapixel spec wars than they are making the product the best it can be. That said, the camera isn't bad. It's just not as good as the Note 2's, which is excellent, particularly when using low light setting. I've found that setting the Note 3 to HDR helps for indoor shots.

UGH... just as I thought... this is a SOFTWARE problem. I installed another camera app on my Note 3 and I took some photos back to back with the 3rd party app and the Samsung camera app. The pictures I took with the 3rd party app indoors in low light look way better and sharper than the ones taken with the Samsung camera app.

Hopefully the low light picture issues get taken care of with a software update. For now I guess people who are experiencing the over smoothing which makes pictures look a bit blurred in low light can just use a different camera app.

Which camera app are you using?

If you use the stabilization setting the low light photos are better than the note 2. Take the note 3 outside and the note 2 is not even close.

I wish that were true, but it's not.

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

I even just visited the pictures post before I came upon this post and was thinking to myself, don't anyone else notice that these pics all suck. Out of two pages of pics, I cant find a single one that I would consider great, nothing close to what I got from the Note 2.

That's funny. I thought the same thing when I saw that post. Most of those pictures are pretty washed out.

Inside low light may be a toss up. Outside or in good inside light the note 3 is much better than the note 2. Maybe your unit is a bit off. The outside pics this thing takes are stunningly sharp.

Judging from the Note 3 pics thread, I think the sub standard pics are not limited to my phone. Any chance you had a bad Note 2?

I agree, my note 2 took much better outdoor and indoor pics and much better flash pics. I am hoping though that its a software thing or my camera needs breaking in if there is such a thing. I really expected this camera to be a lot better. I am actually surprised that most people think the pics in the pics thread actually look great. To me they look mediocre at best.

I'm really on the fence as to whether to keep the Note 3 or return it and go back to the Note 2. There is a lot to like about the phone, but the camera and battery life are major disappointments.

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

i've been bumping up my exposure to top end for indoor pics and its helping!!

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

The Note 2 to me took better pics than the note 3. I passed on my Note 2 to my hubby and frankly that's one thing I regret about the Note 2, the camera. To me the Note 2 pics are more real than the Note 3. My son has an S4 and both Notes beat that camera. I had an Iphone 4, it took good pics but not as good as any of the Note 2 or 3, maybe as good as the S4. Not sure how the Iphone 5 is performing. Oh well, I still love my note 3 better than any phone that I have owned so far.

Re: Does anyone else think the camera sucks?

Man you all are spoiled just feel lucky you haven't had to live with the Razor Maxx camera for 2 years. It's one of the reason I went with the Verizon Edge program yes I know it will cost me more but in 6 months if I grow to hate this phone I can dump it.
