I have been using it on my lockscreen and it is working pretty damn well! Took a couple of days of trying but I seem to have gotten the right swiping tempo where I now rarely have to swipe a second time. (Knock on Wood).
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
I think it helps to be imaginative when setting the 10 scans. Use every angle and a couple times you think you will use most. My scanner is as easy as the swipe, it is simply on another part of the screen and with a little finesse.
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
I had the finger print lock screen enabled but disabled it and went back to the no security swipe screen I typically use. The problem was not the effectiveness of the finger print scanner... It worked fine. The problem was me. I never fully realized how much I use/glance at my phone at odd angles until I had to scan my finger print in a particular direction to unlock the device.
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
after all the negative comments, I was prepared for the scanner to really suck. Decided to give it a few days... the first day was difficult but after that I rarely have an issue. The wife has an iPhone 6 and she has about the same level of issues (only once in a while) as I do with the scanner on the Note 4.
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
I hated it at first. I guess I was setting it up wrong the first day I tried it. I read the other post on it and paid close attention to the demos on the Phone, and figured out how to get the fingerprints registered. Was getting a lot of errors the first time about not hitting all of the button, or not a match. Tonight got it right and now it works most of the time. I think it's just getting the technique of sliding you finger down. Not bad now that I'm using it correctly. Time will tell if I kept that or not. I do like to just swipe the screen.
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
Wish I could figure it out. It frankly drives me insane...when I register my thumb(s) everything looks great but when i try to actually unlock using my thumb I get like 5% success rate. It says..."slow down", "faster", "middle", blah blah blah. The touchid iphone 6 and 6+ I tried for 2 weeks basically worked perfect w/about 99% success so I don't know what's up.
Maybe I should take the case off? try try again
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
Mine doesn't work the first time every time but a lot of the time it does. I like it a whole lot better than entering a 6 digit code especially in the car.
Re: Fingerprint sensor working better than expected
Does it drive anyone else crazy get the:
You have incorrectly attempted to unlock the screen 1 time. If you attempt to unlock the screen incorrectly 4 more times, your backup password will be required.
After receiving that message, I don't even get to make a second attempt (which believe me is required often on mine), I have to now look at that message and touch on 'OK' to dismiss it and now try again. That is fueling my frustration with the fingerprint scanner. Is there a way to turn off that message?
