Samsung Galaxy Note 4 How do I restore my text messages that were backed up to my sd card?

I traded in my S3 for the new Note 4 (verizon) and I backed them up on my S3 SD card but it did it so fast it didnt show me where. Now I want to restore them from the same sd card but cant find the file.
Any ideas where it is or the file name?

What app did you use to back them up?

I just went into backup restore I believe. There was no app just the system settings. I found it in android. Actually I think I just saved them all to my sd card. You just check the box at the top in messages and it lets you save them.

Oh, sorry. I'm not that familiar with backing up text message that way on an S3. I use an app like SMS Backup & Restore.

I just went into backup restore I believe. There was no app just the system settings. I found it in android. Actually I think I just saved them all to my sd card. You just check the box at the top in messages and it lets you save them.

It sounds like you saved them to Samsung account, if you go to cloud and sign into samsung account, check If you have any data then restore.

Download a file manager and see if they show up in the SD card folder or DCIM

I would need to know what the file is called. I cant find it on the sd card but I dont know the file name.
