Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Latest Rumors

What did you think?

The phone feels good in the hand and I was able to interact with the screen and with the edge without a problem. The edge of the screen is not intrusive to the larger part. I am just not sure how useful the curved edge is going to be. Lets see what developers can do with it.

I hear you, but I am not interested in that stuff. Lets see what else they come with, and I am sure they will come up with lots of stuff.

Played with Note Edge and 4 today at Best Buy. I am going to buy the Edge for sure. It's just brilliant. Also the side screen merges with the main screen seamlessly for many of the apps and it provides a wider screen than the Note 4.

However, placed side by side the Note 4 screen is 1/4" taller, whereas the Note Edge screen is about 1/4" wider.

I've not found Edge in any of BB in the SF Bay Area, CA yet. When asked a Sammy rep, he said another 3 weeks. Any sighting of Edge in the Bay?

I played with one at the Best Buy here in Greenwood, IN and when this thing drops, I'm all over it.

I was wondering if they dropped the USB 3.0 to save on cost and possibly space, thinking not many made use of it, or if it was because of the interference USB 3.0 can cause (sometimes I would go into roaming on my Note 3 when I turned on USB 3.0).

now phones have built in 32gb & if add card I have 64gb
& now it can also take 128gb imagine the time it will take to add Files

So its a real disappointment that the newer phone doesn't have Usb 3.0
hoping they will get it back in Galaxy S6, Note 5 and other upcoming phones next year

very sad :(

If they're only going to make 1Million of them, I suspect the "3rd party" developer involvement will be close to NIL. The more they claim it's a "limited production" device, the less incentive for developers to spent valuable resources to build apps for it. Just look at the dearth of Tizen phones as a clue that when you talk junk about phones you plan to make, but then don't, that people aren't going to take you as seriously. And by people, I mean developers.

I can confirm that South of you, Lazerproof, all BestBuys have pulled the Note Edges from their Samsung Experience centers. Doesn't bode well.

Doesn't look good at all. If Sammy would look at the highly active Note 4 forum here and then the dead as a door nail forum on the Edge, they would pull the plug too.

However, here's my argument for making the Edge available for $350 with two year contract, with a $50 premium over Note 4. I hope Samsung reads this.

  1. Note Edge does everything Note 4 does, but with an added 160 pixel curved screen.
  2. It's by no means an inferior product to the Note 4, it's just more cutting edge and specialized.
  3. Although many of us are surprised by the lack of interest in the Edge, it doesn't mean that Samsung should abandon the project.
  4. All large phones today are looking alike, it's refreshing to see a new offering that bends and curves the rules.
  5. We know that curve technology is the future and why not keep going with the Edge as a specialized, perhaps by signup or web only sale product.
  6. We know that the Edge does everything Note 4 does, so it's really not a compromise and there are many of us who would commit to it if we are giving the chance.
  7. It is a damn gorgeous product and a real attention grabber. Not to mention a halo product for Samsung.
  8. Sammy don't give up on it.

I think that this forum is less active because there is no release date yet. I can see Samsung doing the Note Edge in a limited-production. The tech geek in me wishes that they would just give me one to try out if they lack confidence in how well it would do in the marketplace. Come on Samsung-show a customer that owns 5 Note devices some love! :)

Problem is no release date or price released. If they released that info plus had done the same deal as the note 4 200 trade in promo there would be a lot more interest on the note edge forum. You have to figure off contract pricing will be about 100 more then the note 4, so with no 200 trade in promo on the edge, that makes it 300 over the note 4 which is not worth it to most people, myself included.

I heard the Bestbuy demos were pulled because it is going to launch soon and they are going to get updated versions. It's still at my Bestbuy though. I can't wait for it to launch. So many of the things people are talking about seem stupid to me. Most if it is wait and see. Personally I have had to adjust to the way I hold every phone I've ever had for one reason or another so this is no different and sooo worth it to me. I'm really excited about this phone. While it might not attract a ton of devs to make new apps for the side screen, you can bet it will attract some. Samsung guy at BB told me he thinks it will launch in my area (northern IL) by or on Nov 17th and maybe as early as the 4th. Just hearsay but I hope so.

When Samsung launch both phone
they did not think that the Edge would be a bigger hit

they delayed the phone cos they got lot more Orders for it than expected

It will release in Dec before Xmas
