Hey guys, I hope im following the right format by posting this here.

The problem is that my phone (S2 I1900) keeps crashing upon opening new/updated applications. Initially i thought that this was an incompatiblity issue with CM12 and Android 4.0 so i upgraded to CM13 and Android 6.0.

However, when i installed e.g. Whatsapp, the app forces my phone to reboot as soon as i try to open it.

Note that it is a clean (factory resetted) CM13 so it has nothing to do with the cache of the app.

My intuition tells me that it is a hardware issue, S2 being quite old and all. However i find the S2 very trustworthy so i don't wanna give up on it yet. What do you guys think? Battery issue? Memory issue? Please tell me your thoughts!

EDIT: Some extra information would be that older versions of some applications tend to work. However, the oldest working apk version of Whatsapp(10 January 2018), crashes my phone.

Help is much appreciated,

Tribes

I'm thinking it's most likely a hardware issue. As you said, the phone is old and doesn't really owe you anything at this point. The good news is that if it lasted you this long with no problems, it sounds like you could upgrade to a model one or two generations old for a significant improvement for cheap.
