Samsung Galaxy S3 taking 30 seconds + to come out of sleep mode

I bought my samsung galaxy s3 maybe a month or so ago and everything was fine until about 3 days ago when i tried to take it out of sleep mode using the power button and it was unresponsive after setting it down for 30 seconds or so the screen finally came on. This problem tends to occur after leaving the phone for a few minutes without use. Any ideas on why this is happening??

First I'd restart the phone.

I had the same thought and tried that along with factory reseting it, same problem. I sent it in to samsung and they said there was nothing wrong with it.
