Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Update Issues

For the contacts crashing problem, try this and it wored for me
Go to app manager > All > Contacts > Clear data. Now open your contacts and it should work

I for one have noticed a speed boost with this update. Everything feels smoother, and the ram seems to be more efficiently used as i get far less notifications from my cleaner app.

But, folders do keep getting stuck open, forcing me to swipe above the folders to change pages, then back to close it. Also, it's upsetting that the data toggle had been removed from the status bar.

One other thing I've noticed is my video player app keeps eating up cpu when i haven't even been using it.

Yeah there have been a lot of problems reported of 4.3 updates. That's why I'm holding off until I see samsung have fixed at least some of the issues

Biggest issue with me is that my s4 doesn't want to connect to public wifi networks sometimes because it deems them "too slow".

Would be less of a problem if Sprint's 3g wasn't so godawful and if I could get LTE

Are those public hotspots 2.4 gHz band?

I am also having both of those same issues. I hope something gets resolved really soon! :(

It's a smiley face you have to press after you long press the mic.😊😉😄😃

I updated my GS4 to Android 4.3 this afternoon and ever since my Samsung Music Player keeps popping up in my notification panel ready to play a song. I exit out of it and within 15-20 minutes it will show up again. I've closed it in Task Manager and restarted my phone and it keeps coming back up. Also, it shows up on my lock screen in place of the clock when it pops up. I've never even used the music player on this phone so I have no idea why this is happening.

I am having the same issue. When my GS4 updated to Android 4.3 yesterday afternoon, it took away my mobile data notification and my Music Player keeps popping up in my notification panel ready to play a song. Unable to find the mobile data notification anywhere. Took phone to AT&T and they acted just as dumb-founded as I was, no answers given. Looked at phones they had on display with 4.2.2 and it still had the mobile data in the notifications.

I updated my software the other day and now my phone keeps crashing, then resetting itself repeatedly when the battery gets low. I mentioned this to a guy who worked for Samsung and he said it was because the update hadn't gone through properly or something and that I need to reinstall it. I've tried this but it won't let me as it says I already have the newest software. Does anyone know what I can do? Ideally I don't want to do a factory reset.

Great question! There better be a fix soon. What used to be a great phone has turned into a nightmare.

God I am so glad I didn't update. I bought my s4 two days ago and I started downloading the update while browsing this forum and quickly canceled it before it finished.
The same thing happened when I bought my s3 in April. Is Samsung always a **** show or is it just when I join the party?

I haven't had no issues with 4.3. Phone has been great. But I always do a hard reset after a big update like this is installed. I install my apps and setup phone up as if it came straight out the box. That's just what I do. Hasn't failed me yet.

When I go to the app info, it doesn't let me access turn off or uncheck show notifications, they're both grayed out.

12/3/13 Update.
For some reason, I can now turn off the Samsung Music app, they must have updated it and I haven't had the problem of it popping up since I turned it off. I hope it lasts!

Consider yourself lucky, that technique hasn't worked for many...

Rogers Galaxy Note 2. Got the 4.3 "upgrade" today. 2/3 - 3/4 of my apps now don't work. Have to be uninstalled and reinstalled, risking losing everything in the process. So far the only real loss is hungry shark evolution back to zero. too bad but at least my contacts didn't get killed.

SUPER SLOW now. Its like I'm back on my Dell Streak.

The one thing I cannot figure out and would dearly love to is how to make the texting app look like it used to. The font is now HUGE and fewer bubbles fit on the screen. a half-blind person could read it from across teh room... I have a big screen to fit a LOT of stuff on it, not to make 1.2" tall letters.

GAH!

Hey guys
Following the 4.3 update my text messaging screen has changed to now have the contact image next to the text bubble
and i was wondering if there was any way to get it looking like the below image again?
